Their program matches kids and youth with qualified adult mentors and built on something simple: showing up consistently so a young person has someone in their corner. 👥

That kind of relationship helps kids build confidence, handle challenges, and figure out who they want to become.

Boys in Port Coquitlam are waiting for a mentor! Some have been waiting more than two years to be matched with a Big Brother.

Our community partner, Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver, is urgently looking for caring adults to become Big Brother Community Mentors.

👥 You may be a good fit if you:
• Are a man, trans, or gender-diverse adult (18+).
• Can spend 2 or more hours each week with a young person after school or on weekends.
• Can commit to mentoring for one year.

Mentoring doesn't require special skills, just your time, encouragement, and a willingness to show up.

Last Friday, Kay and Jordan spent the day volunteering in the Wilson Kitchen during the Lacrosse Provincial Championships at the City of Port Coquitlam Recreation Centre.

It was a very busy day. Thanks for stepping in Kay, to help Wilson Kitchen volunteers serve youth and families!

It was also a chance to say one last goodbye to Kay as she wrapped up her time as our Volunteer Inclusion Program (VIP) Coordinator with Community Volunteer Connections.

We're grateful for everything Kay has contributed to growing the VIP program, mentoring VIP volunteers, and working with host partners. We wish her all the best in what's next.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be welcoming a new VIP coordinator to the team, and we're looking forward to introducing them to our community.

The Rett Syndrome Society of BC is looking for volunteer photographers to help capture the moments that mean the most to children and their families.

Most events take place throughout the Tri-Cities, with one annual Family Social held each September at Unwin Park in Surrey.

If you have your own camera, a vehicle to get to events, your 19 years or older, and enjoy photographing genuine moments, this could be a meaningful way to use your skills.

Volunteers receive a virtual orientation and will be asked to provide references and complete a Criminal Record Check.
