This Past Week!

members of 1st and 2nd Battalion of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment have successfully completed IBMG (Infantry Basic Machine Gunner) course providing them the skills and knowledge to be effectively employed as a machine gunner in the sustained fire role.

Des membres des 1er et 2e bataillons du Royal Newfoundland Regiment ont réussi le cours d'armurier formation de base de mitrailleur d'infanterie (FBMI), ce qui leur a permis d'acquérir les compétences et les connaissances nécessaires pour être employés efficacement comme mitrailleurs dans un rôle de tir soutenu.

Honouring culture, serving community.

For Corporal Young, service in the Canadian Armed Forces has never meant leaving his Mi'kmaq identity behind. At this year's Flat Bay Powwow, he shared how culture, community, and military service have been part of his journey over the past decade.

His experience is a reminder that the strength of the Army Reserve comes from the people who serve, the communities they represent, and the perspectives they bring with them.

Honorer sa culture, servir sa communauté.

Pour le caporal Young, servir au sein des Forces armées canadiennes n'a jamais signifié mettre de côté son identité mi'kmaq. Lors du pow-wow de Flat Bay cette année, il a raconté comment sa culture, sa communauté et son service militaire ont façonné son parcours au cours des dix dernières années.

Son histoire rappelle que la force de la Première réserve de l'Armée repose sur les personnes qui servent, les communautés qu'elles représentent et les perspectives qu'elles apportent avec elles.

The 2 RNFLDR Recruiting Team was proud to participate in the annual Bay St. George Powwow, celebrating Indigenous culture and honouring Indigenous Veterans. The event provided an opportunity to connect with community members and promote career opportunities in the Canadian Armed Forces.

On July 4, members of 2 RNFLDR proudly participated in the Powwow at C***e River, celebrating the traditions and culture of the Miawpukek First Nation. We are grateful for the warm hospitality and the opportunity to strengthen the bonds between our communities.
