CALL OUT: METALSMITH JEWELRY INSTRUCTOR
Thompson Island Cultural Camp (TICC) is seeking an experienced metalsmith jewelry instructor to lead an upcoming workshop in November.

This is an opportunity to share your knowledge and skills by teaching participants how to create jewelry using metals such as copper, brass, and silver.

WORKSHOP DETAILS
• Two sessions, with two days of instruction per session (four days total)
• 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. each day
• Workshop will take place in November

INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in metalsmithing and jewelry making
• Ability to provide instruction on working with copper, brass, silver, and related techniques
• Must provide all required materials and equipment, including metals, saws, soldering equipment, and other necessary supplies

HOW TO APPLY
Interested instructors are asked to submit:
• Photos of previous jewelry or metalsmith work
• A brief background outlining their experience
• Their availability in November
• A quote for the workshop

COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICES RELEASES FALL 2026 FLU, RSV, COVID-19 VACCINE SCHEDULE

Community Health Services is providing the community with its flu, RSV, and COVID-19 vaccine clinic schedule. Vaccine clinics will welcome walk-ins at all scheduled dates and locations.

It is recommended to receive your flu/COVID vaccines every year as the vaccines are tailored to circulating strains of the viruses.

The RSV vaccine is recommended for the following:

•Adults 60 years of age and older who have NOT received and RSV vaccination before
•Infants born after April 1, 2026 and under 8 months of age
•Children up to 24 months of age with a health condition that puts them at increased RSV risk

If you are homebound, and require a home visit for vaccination, please call the Community Health Services office to schedule a home visit.

MCA FOCUS MEETING — OCTOBER 15
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Focus Meeting will take place on Kenténha/October 15, 2026, at the Kawehno:ke Recreation Center, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The Akwesasne Rights & Research Office (ARRO) will provide updates on the Nutfield Tract Survey Claim and the Seaway Claim.

Please note that this meeting will be held in person only; no virtual option will be available. All community members are encouraged to attend and participate.

YOUR INPUT MATTERS: CONSULTATION MEALS CONTINUE ON THE AKWESASNE CHILD RIGHTS LAW
The Eniethihswanón:na, Child Rights and Responsibilities Law, Working Task Group (WTG) has confirmed the dates and locations for the continuation of District Community Consultation Sessions.

Community members are invited to join upcoming opportunities to learn about and share their views on the history, development, and future implementation of this draft law. Meals will be provided by one of Akwesasne's local catering services and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Community Consultation Session Schedule:
🗓️ District of Tsi Snaíhne — November 4, 2026
Snye Homemakers at 5:00 p.m.

🗓️ District of Kawehnó:ke — November 19, 2026
Kawehnó:ke Recreation Center at 5:00 p.m.

Since March 2026, the Working Task Group (WTG) has been engaged in Phase III of the Akwesasne Legislative Enactment Procedural Regulation (ALEPR) community consultation process. Consultation sessions have taken place across Akwesasne to encourage participation and gather feedback from community members of all ages and backgrounds.

Community outreach and consultation efforts will continue, and community members may submit comments at any time, as there is currently no set deadline for submissions.

LAND-BASED HEALING: FOOD FERMENTATION & FOOD PRESERVATION WORKSHOP SERIES
The MCA Department of Health's Land-Based Healing (LBH) Program is proud to partner with Akwesasne Child & Family Services (ACFS) to host a Fermentation & Food Preservation workshop series, hosted by TLC Catering’s Leora Charles. This series will start on Saturday, November 7, and take place every Saturday in November.

Participants will learn:
• Fermentation
• Reducing household waste
• Environmental responsibility
• Community food responsibility
• No waste harvesting
• Reducing household and community food waste

The workshops will take place at the Whoville House, located at 90 Whoville Road in Tsi Snaihne, from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES: NEW WAYS TO ACCESS MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne's Mental Health Services is making it easier to get support when you need it.

Need to talk to someone? Same-day appointments are now available for one-time sessions or sessions as needed. Reach out and we’ll connect you with a mental health counselor as soon as we can.

Looking for longer-term support, a psychological assessment, or a psychiatric diagnosis? Mental Health Services currently has openings with our psychologists. The first step is filling out a request for services form. An intake appointment will be booked as soon as we receive the completed form. Once the intake is complete, your next appointment with a provider is scheduled.

Demand for services has increased, so we encourage you to reach out soon. Appointment times will vary depending on availability.
