2026 Deer Herd Reduction Program:

2026 DEER HERD REDUCTION PROGRAM
The MCA Environment Program, in partnership with Parks Canada, is pleased to announce the dates for this year’s Deer Herd Reduction Program on Hill Island in the Thousand Islands.

Dates: December 5-6, 2026

Are you an Akwesasró:non hunter interested in participating? To sign up, please contact Conservation Officer Craig Delormier at 613-575-2250 ext. 1047 or 613-551-1836.

Important Details:
• Must have Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) or have fi***rm registered with both Canadian and U.S. Customs
• Must not have any legal restrictions holding or being around weapons
• Must be a status card holder from Akwesasne
• Participants under the age of 18 may attend as observers only and must be accompanied by an adult.

Note: Hunters who do not have a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) and plan to use their red Longhouse ID must obtain a Non-Resident Fi****ms Declaration Form. The form allows fi***rms and am******on to be transported across the border for up to 60 days and costs $25 CAD. It is available at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) station at 501 Tollgate Road E, Cornwall, ON.

📅 Deadline to sign up is Friday, November 27, 2026. Participants will be selected lottery-style and contacted if chosen.

RFP: CATERING FOR COMMUNITY HOLIDAY DINNERS:

RFP: CATERING FOR COMMUNITY HOLIDAY DINNERS
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is seeking proposals from local caterers within each district for Council’s three community holiday dinners. The dinners take place during the month of December in the districts of Kawehnò:ke, Kaná:takon and Tsi Snaíhne.

MCA is seeking traditional holiday meals similar to those provided in previous years, including but not limited to: ham and/or turkey, mashed potatoes, hash, gravy, stuffing, a hot vegetable side dish, a cold salad (macaroni, pasta, etc.), dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, dessert, and beverages. Caterers are welcome to propose additional or alternative menu options.

Proposals should include a business overview, relevant experience, food handling certifications, a detailed proposed menu, and clear pricing per meal.

Deadline to submit: Kentenhkó:wa/November 13, 2026
