In honour of National AccessAbility Week (NAAW) in Canada, and in partnership with Easter Seals Canada and , we are celebrating the incredible accessibility adaptations being made in our communities!

Our REALM Advisory Committee is hard at work hosting events and highlighting these vital changes throughout the week. A perfect example of this progress is the rise of "relaxed performances," which design live shows to be supportive and inclusive for neurodivergent individuals and people with disabilities. Today marks the start of National Accessibility Week (NAAW). This week celebrates the leadership, achievements, and contributions of people with disabilities across Canada.

This year's theme is "Building a Strong, Accessible Canada."

It invites all of us to take action to advance a barrier-free country. Significant progress has been made to eliminate and prevent barriers, and by continuing to work together, we can build a truly accessible, inclusive and equitable Canada.

Our country is stronger when persons with disabilities can participate fully in all aspects of society.

Together, we can empower each other and make a meaningful impact.

The BC Ministry of Health has approved $4.25 million for the BC Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program, administered by the BC Association of Farmers Markets, for 2026. The funding is even with last year, and follows on $12 million provided in 2022-24. The funding is a cornerstone of BCAFM, providing eligible low-income, pregnant and senior individuals with $27 a week for purchases of locally grown produce at more than 100 participating farmers markets in 92 communities across BC. Funding has increased seven-fold since the program launched in 2012.

Attention Everyone!

It has come to our attention that someone not affiliated with REALM Services Inc. is attempting to collect payment from potential vendors who wish to participate in the spring flea market, which will be hosted by REALM Services Inc. this Saturday, May 9th.

This person is also attempting to charge a much higher price to participate in the market and has requested that people make direct payments to them.

As listed on the poster and shared by email with those interested in participating, any and all payments should have been sent to Jess Gretener via E-transfer at 250 427 9721, or paid in person at Realm Services Inc.

The RCMP has been notified about the ongoing situation.
