25% of Canadian women said they'd had to choose between buying menstrual products and other essentials like food or rent (survey: Plan International Canada)

If you're able, please donate unopened menstrual products to the WRC or the Kimberley Public Library. If accessing essentials is hard right now, please reach out - we can help.

We reached 50 members today in our new group!

In case you missed last week's update, this page is being replaced by a new Facebook Group: Cranbrook Women Helping Women. Updates about our program and organization will still be found on the Community Connections Society of Southeast BC page, where we will have messages in one inbox and you can be connected with admin or program staff (once we're all set up).

The new group is a place where women can connect with each other and local resources. It's for community building and conversation, not just program updates. Join the group and invite your Cranbrook girlies!

🫣Don’t be disappointed – this is a good change for us. The Cranbrook Women’s Resource Centre is a program of Community Connections Society of Southeast BC. For many years we’ve maintained both pages so folks can find info about specific programs easily. Unfortunately, in many cases this means duplicating a lot of our efforts and monitoring two inboxes – sometimes needing to tell followers to message the other page instead to get in contact with the right person. We don’t think that’s good client service. Now we’ll have one page and one inbox!

We will continue to share resources, celebrations, events, groups and workshops on our Community Connections page.

BUT WAIT ✨✨✨

We’re launching a new Facebook Group just for women in Cranbrook!

Instead of a page where we post about the WRC, this will be a collaborative space where women can ask for help, peer support, and recommendations and get connected to local resources. We’ve invited other local partners to join us in administrating this group, and we hope you’ll join us as our very first members.

We’ve recently had some staff changes and want to introduce you to our new WRC coordinator. Keep your eyes on the Cranbrook Women Helping Women group to meet her and give her a warm welcome.

Check out this awesome new program at Community Connections 🙌🏻💚

We are thrilled 👏 to announce the opening of our new Community Counselling Program! We will be offering free counselling to individuals in the East Kootenays who would not otherwise be able to obtain counselling - beginning in October 2025.

This program is being run without a funding source, with counselling practicum students.

We recognize the full bursary support of Jane App Clinic Software, which we will be using for virtual appointments and online booking.

Interested individuals are encouraged to read the bios of our counsellors on our website at https://www.ccscranbrook.ca/programs/community-well-being/community-counselling-program/ and complete the pre-screening form.

Follow along as we share more about our counsellors in the coming days!

We will be accepting new counselling practicum students starting in 2026 - contact [email protected] to express your interest.
