The library was a recipient of a McCreary Centre Society Youth Action Grant to make the junior fiction and graphic novels sections more welcoming for youth. This was a youth led project, by library volunteer Erik Stokes, to reinvigorate a space in the library with inviting bean bag chairs and material organisation to support community youth with a space of their own in the library. Thank you to the McCreary Centre and Erik Stokes for this initiative!

Erin recommends…Rufous and Calliope by Nelson writer Sarah Louise Butler. Set in a fictionalized version of our very own Kootenays, this is the story of a middle-aged cartographer who suffers from memory loss. Rufous sets out in search of the treehouse where he spent one memorable childhood summer on the run with his four siblings. NPL has a new Book Club Set of this title – perfect for reading with friends!
