Day 49 📚✨

For 55 years, the Cremona Municipal Library has been part of family stories.

Children who once attended library programs and checked out stacks of books have grown up, started families of their own, and now bring their children through the library doors. Some families have been using the library for generations.

Over the years, the library has celebrated first library cards, favourite books, summer reading adventures, school projects, and countless memories shared between parents, grandparents, and children.

There is something special about a place that can mean something different to each generation, while still bringing them together through a shared love of reading, learning, and community.

In a world where it often feels like you're expected to buy something just to spend time somewhere, libraries are different.

The library is one of the few places where everyone is welcome to come in, browse, read, study, work, visit, or simply spend some time, without any expectation of making a purchase.

Public libraries are built on the idea that access to knowledge, community, and opportunity should be available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.

For 55 years, the Cremona Municipal Library has been a place where people can simply be.

📚 We're Hiring! June 23rd application deadline📚

The Cremona Municipal Library is seeking a friendly, organized, and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Part-Time Library Assistant/Program Coordinator.

This is a temporary position (approximately 2–3 months) to cover a parental leave, with the possibility of extension, early conclusion, or permanency depending on operational needs and the return status of the incumbent employee.

The successful candidate will help deliver excellent library service, assist patrons with technology and information resources, support daily library operations, and plan engaging programs and events for all ages.

If you are creative, enjoy working with people, and are passionate about learning and community engagement, we'd love to hear from you!

The Cremona Municipal Library's FREE Summer Reading Club is packed with stories, games, crafts, outdoor activities, and plenty of opportunities to make new friends!

This year's theme takes us on an exciting journey through oceans, rivers, lakes, and wetlands as we discover the amazing creatures and habitats found in and around the water.

📅 Mondays, July 6–August 24 (excluding August 3)
👧 Ages 5–8: 10:00 am–12:00 pm
🧑 Ages 9+: 1:00–4:00 pm

The Cremona Municipal Library's collection is shaped by the people who use it. While we work to provide materials on a wide variety of topics and interests, community feedback and requests play an important role in helping us build a collection that reflects the needs, interests, and curiosity of local residents.

Whether you're interested in mysteries, gardening, history, cooking, science fiction, biographies, children's books, current events, or something entirely different, the library strives to offer something for everyone.

You might be surprised by some of the things you can borrow from the library.

Beyond books, the Cremona Municipal Library offers a variety of unique items that help people learn, explore, play, and try new things. Families can borrow Backpack Kits filled with books and activities, head outdoors with snowshoes and trekking poles, enjoy co****le and carnival games, try pickleball with a portable net and equipment, or even monitor home energy use with an electricity consumption meter or borrow a CO₂ monitor.

These collections help make learning, recreation, and exploration accessible to everyone while encouraging people to discover new interests and experiences.

Day 44 📚✨

The story of the Cremona Municipal Library is really a story of growth.

What began in 1971 as a small room on the second floor of the old general store eventually moved to a modest space in the Village Office building when it was built in 1975. As the library's collection, services, and community support grew, so did the need for more room.

Over time, the library expanded within the building before eventually gaining the dedicated space it enjoys today. Each move and expansion reflected a community that valued its library and believed in its future.

While the spaces have changed over the years, the library's purpose has remained the same: providing opportunities for learning, discovery, and connection.
