💩 A Paw-lite Reminder from the Dog Park

We’ve recently received quite a few complaints about "left behind treasures" at the dog park. While we appreciate that your furry friend may be proud of their accomplishments, not everyone feels the same.

The good news? We provide doggy waste bags AND a garbage can right on site, making cleanup easy.

So please, do your part:
🐾 Scoop the p**p
🐾 Toss it in the bin
🐾 Help keep the dog park clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone

Thanks for being a responsible pet owner!

💦 The Splash Park at Centennial Park will be taking a short break from June 15 to June 22, 2026, while it gets a fresh new surface.

After years of helping kids beat the heat, the rubberized surface has officially reached retirement age. It has exceeded its lifespan and can no longer be effectively patched, which has left some exposed concrete and created slipping and tripping hazards. In other words, it's time for a makeover!

The good news? Once the work is complete, the Splash Park will be refreshed, safer, and ready for another summer of squeals and splashes.

We know this temporary closure may put a small damper on your water-filled plans, and we appreciate your patience while crews complete the work.

🌈 At a recent Council meeting, Mayor and Council officially proclaimed June 2026 as Pride Month in the Town of Creston. The proclamation will help celebrate five decades of progress working towards equity and equal rights for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community while acknowledging the continued challenges and lived experience of their community in Creston and globally.

Pride month is celebrated every June worldwide to commemorate eventful moments in the fight for equitable and inclusive spaces, laws and policies for LGBTQ2IA+ individuals.

Pride month further raises awareness of 2SLGBTQIA+ lived-experiences and raises awareness and understanding of the community while promoting equity, inclusivity and greater acceptance of diversity.

The Town of Creston invites residents to embrace and celebrate diversity and inclusivity in our beautiful community!

Happy Pride Month, Creston! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

The River Forecast Centre has issued a Flood Watch for areas of the interior including the East Kootenays because rives have been rising due to accelerated snowmelt this week.

To help reduce the risk of injury, keep the following safety tips in mind:

• Stay back from stream edges. High water flows can erode and destabilize banks without warning.

• Keep a safe distance and avoid walking or playing near the water.

• Respect the power of moving water. Even calm-looking water can conceal strong currents. Swift water can knock a person off their feet in seconds - even in shallow areas.

• Follow all warning signs and advisories. Signage and public notices are posted to alert people to hazardous conditions. Respect these warnings and avoid waterways until it is safe to return.

• Be prepared when outdoors. If you’re heading out to recreate, carry a cell phone, let someone know your plans, and pack essentials such as appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear, and a first aid kit.

• Use proper equipment on the water. If participating in activities like kayaking or canoeing, ensure you have the appropriate skills and equipment. Always wear a properly fitted personal flotation device and follow your watercraft’s safety guidelines.
