On Monday, March 16th, the DPS conducted a wellness check on a 75-year-old male as requested by the family. The member found the male deceased inside his residence. After consulting with the Saskatchewan Coroner's Office and the RCMP's HCU, the death was attributed to natural causes, and the case was closed.

Police investigations into sudden deaths are initiated with a high level of scrutiny, which remains in place until the cause is determined as natural or accidental. These investigations require careful handling and are conducted with the utmost respect for the deceased and their family. They can be emotionally draining for the family and emergency personnel on scene.

The DPS is grateful for the assistance provided by the Coroner's Service and the RCMP's Major Crime Unit. We encourage everyone to check in regularly on their family members regardless of the distance between them.

The Dalmeny Police Service extends our deepest condolences to the Saskatoon Police Service and the family, friends, and colleagues affected by the loss of one of their members.

Policing is more than a profession — it is a calling rooted in service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the community. Today, we stand with our policing family in Saskatoon as they grieve this profound loss.

This tragedy is also a reminder that behind every badge is a human being — a colleague, a friend, and a loved one. The mental health and well-being of our members must remain a priority, and no officer should ever feel alone in their struggles.

To the members of the Saskatoon Police Service, please know you are not alone. We stand with you, we support you, and we honour your fallen member.
