Aniin,

On March 18,2026 the Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty 2 Territory convened, commencing with an Opwagon and Nibi Ceremony led by Knowledge Keepers, Mary and Robert Maytwayashing, Ogimaa Nepinak delivered opening remarks, including a pivotal statement:’ People that are seeking to return home are welcomed among us, provided they can demonstrate community ties and verify their lineage’- stated Ogimaa Nepinak, Minegoziibe Anishinaabe.

Additionally, discussions emphasized the importance of strategic planning and commitment to finding solutions. Issues were raised related to the 6.1 and 6.2 policy and the second generation cutt off. The round circle discussions addressed guiding questions regarding the procession of the inherent family verification process.

The ANT2T received unanimous support from the member nations to initiate the drafting of the Debendaagoziiwin Onakonegewin (Citizenship Law) Today’s session ignited the inaugural round of engagements to come, and we look forward to your participation at our next gathering, which will be hosted by one of our member nations.

ANT2 government was in the nation of Skownan to present to the members on the topic of “Peacemaking” for Skownan.

To develop our own judicial system in certain areas to help our indigenous members in the justice system.

A great turnout by Skownan members and plenty of discussion on Peacemaking and how we can develop it in our nations .
