Yesterday, we had the pleasure of joining eight talented young artists from the Michif Children’s Place School-Age Program for a Red River Métis-inspired dot art painting workshop!

The children did an amazing job, bringing so much creativity, focus and personality to every piece. We can’t share all the details just yet, but you may spot their beautiful artwork somewhere special this October!

Thank you to Michif Children’s Place and each of our young artists for such a wonderful afternoon!

The Northwest Region hosted the 2026 NWMC Summer Student Career Expo along with the Métis Employment & Training Department.

This day was all about exposing our summer students to different training, post-secondary, and career options.

The day was a success with 42 of our summer students attending presentations by local businesses, training institutions, and career support services that are available to them.

We wish to thank all of the presenters, booths, Northwest Region staff, and everyone who supported this event to uphold our youth! We would also like to extend a thank you to Vice-President Chartrand for her words of encouragement and her facilitation of a journal exercise for our summer students along with the grand prize draw for those who completed their journals. Congratulations to the winners on your new laptops and/or printers!

🧡 Orange Shirt Day Colouring Contest 🧡
September is a time to recognize Truth and Reconciliation, honour Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and continue learning about the history and lasting impacts of residential schools.

As part of our September Truth and Reconciliation activities, the Northwest Métis Council is inviting children and Youth throughout the Northwest Region to participate in our Orange Shirt Day Colouring Contest!

Download one of our printable colouring pages, get creative, and submit your completed artwork for a chance to win a prize in one of three age categories:
🧡 Ages 2–8
🧡 Children Ages 9–15
🧡 Youth Ages 16–29
Colouring pages will also be available for pick-up at the Northwest Métis Council office.

Contest Deadline: September 29, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.

Join ELCC for Maa Mann Pi Soon Biibii, a Red River Métis "mommy and me" program that supports early childhood development through culture, language, and tradition. It's a warm, welcoming space for families to grow together in community and culture. ♾️

Maa Maan Pi Soon Biibii will start on November 17th at the McCreary & District Library, 615 Burrows Ave, McCreary, MB, from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM and on November 19th at the Children for the Future Head Start, 1413 Main St E, Swan River, MB.
