Today, the Northwest Métis Council proudly celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day to honour and recognize the rich cultures, traditions, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across Canada.

We celebrate the strength, resilience, and knowledge that Indigenous communities continue to share with future generations. Today is also an opportunity to reflect on our histories, uplift Indigenous voices, and celebrate the vibrant cultures that continue to thrive throughout our communities.

Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, the Northwest Métis Council stands in solidarity with survivors, families, and communities impacted by violence and trauma caused by conflict around the world.

Sexual violence in conflict is a violation of human rights and dignity that leaves lasting impacts across generations. We honour the strength and resilience of survivors and recognize the importance of truth, healing, justice, and support for all those affected.

Together, we must continue to raise awareness, advocate for peace, and work toward a future where all people can live safely, free from violence and fear.
