Road between Dempster corner and Henderson Corner is now open to one lane.

The North Klondike Highway is now open to single lane traffic from Dempster Corner (km 675) into Henderson Corner (km 691).

Yes, it is May 1st!
We are now open for the 2023 season!
Our hours are, as always, 8am to 8pm and we will be there every day until September 30th!
Come say hi and ask all of your questions about our beautiful little town, it will be our pleasure to assist you!

We are now closed for the 2022 season! And what a season this was!
From forest fires to floods, road closures, ferry issues, internet outages, shortages of staff and COVID still in the background, we still managed to have a great busy season! Thanks to all the businesses and staff who pulled through this summer and worked extra hard to make it happen!
It was good to have people traveling to the Centre of the Universe (aka Dawson City!) again!
We look forward to a great winter season and we will be back on May 1st 2023 to welcome you to Dawson City!

Just a reminder that the border on Top of the World Highway (Poker Creek, Little gold) will be closing on Monday September 5th at 7pm Yukon time (6pm Alaska Time) this year.

The Yukon government's paleontologist is calling a frozen baby woolly mammoth found this week near Dawson City the 'most important discovery in paleontology in North America.'

For travelers planning a trip on the Dempster to the NorthWest Territories, please be aware that the road is underwater for quite a big section on the NWT side. Be aware that even if the ferries manage to start their service n the Mackenzie River and the Peel River, there is good chances of having extra delays because of the road repairs that will most likely be needed on the Dempster.
This extra water is due to the record amount of snow we received this past winter in the Yukon and NWT.

The Dempster highway on the Yukon side is still open all the way to the NWT border without problems at the moment so the Arctic Circle is still reachable!

Merle Carpenter, the department's regional superintendent for the Beaufort Delta region, said Tuesday afternoon that the Mackenzie River had backed up and water was rising on Campbell Lake, just south of Inuvik. It spread across the Dempster Highway for about half a kilometre.

The Little Gold/Poker Creek Customs on the Top of the World Highway is now open as of today, June 1st 2022.
The hours are from 9am to 7pm daily for the next few months!

This border is finally re-opening after 2 years of being closed, since September 2019.
Enjoy your drive on the Top of the World highway and have a safe trip!

These photos are taken from the West side until the river ice goes! It will give you a good idea of what our weather is like these days and when spring will finally arrive after the record snowfall winter we had!

The Dawson City Information Centre as well as the ones in Watson Lake, Carcross, Haines Junction, Beaver Creek and Whitehorse are gearing up for a busy 2022 season!

All centres will be open daily, 8am to 8pm, from May 1st until the end of September!

Come and visit us and let us help you plan your trip to the Yukon and your visit to Dawson City!

We are looking forward to seeing tourism come back to our little town and we also encourage visitors to plan ahead and check accomodations availability before heading up our way!
