South Peace Distributed Learning is pleased to offer a full complement of courses from Kindergarten to Grade 12. We have a variety of delivery methods to meet your learning needs as well as the needs of your family. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM SOUTH PEACE DISTRIBUTED LEARNING

All of us at SPDL want to wish you a happy holiday season. We hope you have wonderful break and time with friends and family.

During the break, if you have issues with Brightspace, please email Mr. Harper directly at [email protected]; he will be checking his email periodically. As teachers are on break, you will need to request test codes no later than 3 pm on Friday, December 22nd. Teachers will resume marking and responding to communications when school resumes on January 8th.

In partnership with The Ministry of Education and Childcare’s erase strategy, due to high demand, Safer Schools Together is offering an additional “Social Media Awareness” Family Session on December 5th at 7:30 pm (MST).

This session covers all things digital, from how to be a good digital citizen, the criminal consequences of cyberbullying, and how to report and receive support in cases of sexting/sextortion. Some of the most prominent concerns currently surrounding use of social media platforms, smartphones, and artificial intelligence will be discussed.

Students will learn:

Digital media habits, oversharing, and digital addiction
The permanence of online posts/activity
The significance of your digital tattoo in how others perceive you (e.g., sports teams, college admissions, and potential employers)
The importance of caring for peers both online and offline
Geo-locational settings and the dangers of social media and cell phone misuse
The social and legal consequences of cyberbullying behaviour as well as possession and distribution of intimate images (sexting and sextortion)
An anonymous student reporting tool that can help you and your friends stay safe both online and offline

Dear students and caregivers,

The end of Term 1 for Grades 8-12 students is fast approaching. The term ends on November 10th; report cards will be issued during the week of November 20th.

For part-time students, your grade and comment for your DL classes will appear on your home school report card. For full-time DL students, your report cards will be mailed to the address we have on record. Remember, you will only receive reporting for classes in which you have activated (completed 5% of the course).

Starting Kindergarten is an exciting time for everyone. All children who will be five years old by December 31, 2023 (children born in 2018) are eligible for the Kindergarten program beginning September 2023.
