👏 Celebrating a valued member of the Dawson Creek Fire Rescue family!

A recent CJDC story highlighted Jeff Schrock and the incredible positivity, dedication, and service he brings to the firehall every week.

Jeff has been connected to the fire station since 1994 and continues to show up with a helping hand, a great attitude, and, of course, a soundtrack of classic hits to keep the day bright.

From helping around the hall to representing the station at community events, Jeff has become a familiar and appreciated part of our team.

Thank you, Jeff, for the many years of support, service, and joy you’ve brought to Dawson Creek Fire Rescue and our community. We’re lucky to have you as part of the family. ❤️

đźš’ New Fire Engine Welcomed with Traditional Push-In Ceremony đźš’

The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) and the City of Dawson Creek proudly welcomed a new all-wheel drive fire engine today at the Dawson Creek Fire Hall.

As part of a longstanding fire service tradition, firefighters carried out the ceremonial “push-in,” working together to manually guide the new truck into the hall for the first time.

Designed specifically for rural firefighting operations, this upgraded all-wheel drive unit will allow crews to safely reach harder-to-access areas and strengthen emergency response throughout the region. Firefighters have also completed dedicated training to ensure they are fully prepared to operate the new equipment.

Through the Dawson Creek–Pouce Coupe Rural Fire Protection service agreement, and in collaboration with the Peace River Regional District, this investment enhances protection for residents both within city limits and across surrounding rural areas.

We are proud of this continued partnership and commitment to keeping our communities safe.

Yesterday morning our duty crew rolled out to a motor vehicle fire in some less-than-tropical conditions. While the temperature was doing its best to freeze everything in sight, the crew was busy doing their best to bring this fire under control.

Thanks to one of our social media followers for capturing some great action photos.

On Saturday, just before midnight, our duty crew responded to a reported structure fire in the area of Highway 97 and 21st Street, involving a mobile home.

The first arriving engine confirmed smoke showing from the structure upon arrival. Crews quickly completed a size-up and investigation, determining that a heating device operating underneath the mobile home was the source of the smoke.

With extreme cold temperatures, fireground operations are made more challenging. Frigid conditions affect everything from water supply and hose lines freezing, to apparatus performance, equipment reliability, and crew safety. Despite these obstacles, our crews worked efficiently and professionally to bring the incident under control quickly.

Due to the cold temperatures forecast, Code Red Christmas has been postponed until Dec. 20th.
