Kyndred held its Annual Family Picnic in July, and we celebrated a lot of milestones and achievements!

In 2024, Kyndred’s Self Advocates requested that we celebrate milestones for persons served, and this year, the Self Advocates presented the awards as well! Here, Self Advocate Jason McPherson (at left) presented a 20-year milestone award to Nathan Helmer (second from right) alongside Kyndred staff members Jayant and Gifty!

Kyndred Society conducts surveys every single year to measure the quality of services. This year, we heard so many nice things from persons served, we just had to share some of it here!

Do you want to learn more about your rights, making your own choices, and having the support you need to make decisions about your life? Join Yuji Kajiwara (Spectrum Society for Community Living) and Angela Clancy (Executive Director, Family Support Institute) for a conversation about Natural Authority and how people with disabilities can be supported to have choice, control, and a strong voice in their own lives.

Our advocacy team will also explore common barriers to supported decision making and share strategies for speaking up, accessing support, and promoting inclusion. Learn more about your rights, decision-making supports, and how communities can better recognize and respect people with disabilities as decision makers.

Everyone has the right to be heard, respected, and supported to make choices about their own life.

At Kyndred’s Annual Picnic in July, we celebrated a lot of milestones and achievements!

This year, there were two recipients of the Janice Womersley Friendship Award. Here, Barb and Ellen Womersley present one of the two awards to Justin Sangha alongside Kyndred staff member Brian Watson, who made the nomination.

The Janice Womersley Friendship Award is also celebrating a milestone this year, as this is the 10th year that we have presented the award in memory and in celebration of Janice.

Each year, we survey persons served and their personal networks to measure the quality of our services. We share many of the survey results in our annual report, and we use the results to identify areas for improvement.

This year, there was so much fantastic feedback, we wanted to share some of it with you here first!
