Today is earthquake drill day around the world! Being prepared isn't just important, it's essential. Last year's Emergency Preparedness Fee helped strengthen emergency food and water supplies and provided every school with sanitation carts stocked with portable toilets, privacy shelters, sanitation supplies, biohazard bags, and PPE.

This year's $10 Emergency Preparedness Fee will be used to replenish expiring emergency water and first aid supplies and add additional sanitation resources. Thank you for investing in the safety and preparedness of our school communities.

The Great British Columbia ShakeOut on October 15 is an annual opportunity for individuals, communities, schools, and organizations to practice essential earthquake safety measures such as “Drop, Cover, and Hold On.” Beyond the drill, participants are encouraged to critically review and update their emergency preparedness plans and supplies, while also taking proactive measures to secure their spaces and prevent potential damage and injuries. Fall is here—and so are colds, flu and COVID-19.

As we spend more time indoors, it’s a good time to refresh your family’s health habits:
- Wash hands often
- Avoid touching your face
- Cough/sneeze into your elbow
- Stay home if you’re feeling sick or wear a mask if you can’t

Remember: Vaccination is the best protection against flu and COVID-19.
