🔥 Interested in becoming a paid on-call firefighter?

Devon Fire/Rescue is recruiting! If you’re looking for a rewarding way to serve your community, learn valuable skills and be part of a dedicated team, this could be the opportunity for you.

Paid on-call firefighters respond to fires, vehicle collisions, medical calls and other emergencies while receiving professional-level NFPA training at no personal financial cost.

Come learn more about what it takes to become a paid on-call firefighter, the training involved and what you can expect as a member of Devon Fire/Rescue.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation, and live within an 8-minute response of the Devon Fire Station. Shift workers are welcome to apply.

Can’t make the info session? Applications are accepted year-round.

🏢 Labour Day Closure – Sept. 7

A reminder that the Town of Devon Office and Devon Recycle Depot will be closed tomorrow, Monday, Sept. 7 for the Labour Day holiday.

Regular hours at the Town Office will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 8 & the Devon Recycle Depot will be open Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 4-7 p.m.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Labour Day long weekend!

🚒 Devon Fire Rescue Open House – Date Change

Please note that the Devon Fire Rescue Open House originally scheduled for September 12 has been moved to Tuesday, October 6 from 5–7 p.m.

Moving the event will allow more members of Devon Fire Rescue to be there to meet residents, show you around the fire hall and share more about the work they do in our community.

The Recruitment Information Session is NOT changing and will still take place:

Orders must be placed by the first Friday of each month, so now is the time to get your order in for fresh, affordable food. 🍎🥒🍌🥩

For just $15, you can receive a produce basket filled with fruits and vegetables, with the option to add a $20 meat order.

✅ Available to all Devon residents
✅ Membership is only $5 per household per year
✅ Pick up on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 1–3 p.m. at the GFL Twin Arena
✅ Alternative pickup arrangements may be available if you can't make the scheduled pickup time

⚡ FortisAlberta upgrades coming to Devon

FortisAlberta will be completing electricity distribution system upgrades throughout Devon from September to December 2026 to support telecommunications infrastructure improvements and improve the reliability and safety of the electrical system.

Work will take place in six stages throughout the community, as shown on the map:

📍 Stage 1: Sept. 8–15
📍 Stage 2: Sept. 16–26
📍 Stage 3: Sept. 27–Oct. 21
📍 Stage 4: Oct. 21–25
📍 Stage 5: Oct. 25–Nov. 18
📍 Stage 6: Nov. 19–Dec. 17

Work will primarily include utility pole replacements, along with underground cable modifications and other system upgrades.

During construction, residents may notice FortisAlberta crews and contractors, staking or flagging, temporary alley closures and work zones. Brief planned power outages may also be required, with affected customers notified approximately 48 hours in advance.

Residents in active work areas are encouraged to remove vehicles, personal belongings and other potential obstructions from around utility poles.
