Last week, TCFD officers participated in Part 3 of a 4-Part Officer Development Workshop Series. Part 3 focused on the many facets, authorities, and responsibilities of being a supervisor under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Officers also reviewed pertinent Municipal Policy and studied other guiding legislation such as the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
Participants then sharpened their Performance Management skills by working in small groups to navigate realistic scenarios, common to leaders in the fire service.
From Acting-Captain, through to Chief Officer ranks, it’s important to ensure that our leaders maintain a high level of competency in these areas. Sound leadership in a Learning Organization creates a desirable environment for positive culture throughout the entire department.
A special thanks to our presenter for the evening, Cindy! Great work!
We’re looking forward to our final Workshop of 2026, coming in November.
