Come find Pembina Crisis Connection Society (PCCS) at the Summerween event! We'll be out in the community sharing information about our programs and services, connecting with community members, and handing out some fun goodies.
Whether you're looking to learn more about the supports available in our region, pick up resources, or just stop by to say hello, we'd love to see you!

Who says Halloween has to wait until October? Join us for a spooky summer celebration this Friday, July 24th at 5:00 PM!

👻 What's happening?
🎭 $5 Costume Contest – Adult and Children. Come dressed in your best spooky, funny, or creative costume for your chance to win.

🎃 Trick-or-Treat along Old Main Street. Lots of businesses will be handing out candy

👕 Costume Take-It-or-Leave-It Table – Find a new look or donate a costume for someone else to enjoy.

🎬 Old Horror Movie Trailers will be playing inside the theatre throughout the event, adding the perfect vintage spooky atmosphere!

👻 Mini games throughout the street with lots of cool prizes

Bring the whole family and celebrate a little Halloween magic in the middle of summer. We can't wait to see all the amazing costumes!

A protection order is an important step—but it’s not the final step.

The time immediately after an Emergency Prohibition Order is served can be one of the highest-risk periods. While removing access to fi****ms can reduce risk, it doesn’t eliminate it entirely.

That’s why ongoing safety planning matters.

A safety plan may include:
• Staying connected with trusted family, friends, or support people.
• Documenting any threats or breaches of the order.
• Having a safe place to go if concerns escalate.
• Contacting police immediately if you believe you’re in danger.

Every situation is unique, and safety planning should be tailored to the individual’s circumstances.

Knowledge, preparation, and support can help save lives. ❤️

Reaching out for help can feel intimidating, especially when you’re not sure what to expect.

In this video, Krissy, Domestic Violence Legal Navigator at Pembina Crisis Connection Society, walks us through what happens after someone makes that first call or reaches out for support.

From the initial conversation to connecting with the right resources, PCCS focuses on meeting people where they are—with compassion, understanding, and no judgment.

Taking the first step is often the hardest part, but you don’t have to have all the answers before reaching out. 💜

Could you recognize when someone is at serious risk of harming themselves or others?

Red Flag Laws are designed to provide a legal pathway for temporary firearm restrictions when there is evidence that someone poses a significant risk to themselves or another person.

In this carousel, we cover:

➡️ What happens during a court hearing
➡️ Important limitations and considerations

These laws are intended to be preventative, creating an opportunity for intervention before a tragedy occurs. They are not a replacement for emergency services—if someone is in immediate danger, always call 911.

Education helps communities recognize risk, understand available legal tools, and support safer outcomes for everyone.

“My problems aren’t big enough.”

It’s a thought many people have before reaching out for support.

In this video, Trisha, Program Director at Pembina Crisis Connection Society, shares what she would say to someone who feels their struggles aren’t serious enough to ask for help.

The truth is, you don’t have to wait until you’re in crisis. Sometimes having someone listen, offer guidance, or connect you with resources can make all the difference before challenges become overwhelming.

Your experiences matter. Your feelings matter. And you deserve support, no matter where you are in your journey. 💜

Firearm violence isn’t just a criminal justice issue—it’s a public safety, mental health, and intimate partner violence issue.

These statistics highlight why prevention matters and why understanding the warning signs, available resources, and legal tools can make a difference.
