Successful Regional Partnership!

🎓 Celebrating Student Success in Hinton! 🎉

On December 23, Mayor LaBerge and Councillor Dunn proudly congratulated local students who received funding through the Regional Tuition Assistance Bursary Program🎓!

📚This program, made possible through collaboration with the Town of Drayton Valley, University of Alberta’s Community University Partnership, and Future Skills Centre Canada, helps reduce financial barriers to post-secondary education and supports workforce development in our region.

Our incredible students are pursuing programs such as:
✅ Bachelor of Indigenous Language Revitalization – Yellowhead Tribal College
✅ Bachelor of Commerce – University of Alberta
✅ Doctor of Medicine – University of Alberta
✅ Indigenous Teacher Education Management – University of British Columbia
✅ Business Administration Management – NAIT
✅ Science Bachelor – Biological Science – University of Calgary

Six students from Hinton each received between $1,621 and $1,675 toward tuition costs – an investment in their future and our community!

👏 Congratulations to these inspiring individuals! We’re proud to support your educational journey and can’t wait to see the incredible impact you’ll make.

Lauren Wolsey always knew she wanted to help people, but it wasn’t until she considered her childhood dream of becoming a kindergarten teacher that she solidified her career path. Unsure of where to begin her post-secondary education, Lauren ultimately chose the University Studies program at Northern Lakes College (NLC), allowing her to stay in her hometown of Drayton Valley while gaining the education she needed to progress toward her goal.

Another incredible opportunity in Drayton Valley! Supported by our Tuition Assistance Bursary! We can have you starting October 21 in the HCA space at the CETC!!

Why take HCA training?

Why not ?! There are several reasons why someone might want to pursue a career as a health care aide in Alberta including:

🩺Accessible entry into health care: Becoming an HCA is one of the more accessible ways to enter the health care field. Programs are often shorter than for other health care roles, and the costs are typically lower. This can be a great way for someone to enter the workforce quickly and start gaining practical experience.
