Important Reminder: Utility Account Numbers Stay With the Property, Not the Person

If you move, your new utility account will have a different account number. Continuing to use an old account number when making payments can result in your payment being applied to the wrong property.

To ensure your payment is processed correctly:
✅ Check your current utility bill for your utility account number before making a payment.
✅ Update your information with the Town if you move to a new address.
✅ Contact the Town if you are unsure which account number to use.

Your utility account number can be found near the top of your utility invoice (see attached example).

Have questions? Contact the Town of Drayton Valley at 780-514-2210 or [email protected].

Congratulations to the P.O.U.R. Program's winner, Gloria Moran, who won a $250 credit on their utility bill by installing an approved water reducing appliance in her home!

Want to know how you can participate in this year's program?
The annual P.O.U.R. Program is a water conservation initiative for customers receiving Town water service who choose to install approved fixtures or appliances which reduce the amount of water consumed.

Eligible fixtures and appliances are:
➜ WaterSense certified toilet.
➜ Water pressure reducers
➜ Energy Star certified washing machines
➜ Energy Star certified dishwashers
➜ Energy Star certified water heaters

Residential Customers
If you install water efficient fixtures or appliances before December 31 of this year, you may qualify for a credit of $100 on your Town utility bill (Note: There is a limitation of one credit of $100 per year per address).

Additionally, each upgrade entitles you to one entry in a draw for a credit of $500 on your Town utility bill. All water consumption reducing installations must be for the current year and must be completed prior to December 31 to qualify.

Commercial Customers
If you install between one and ten water efficient fixtures or appliances before December 31, you will qualify for a credit of $100 on your Town utility bill. Each replacement of one to ten units will qualify your business for a $100 credit (i.e. sixteen WaterSense certified toilets installed = $200 utility account credit).

New Traffic Safety Bylaw and Speed Limit Changes in Effect

The Town of Drayton Valley’s new Traffic Safety Bylaw (Bylaw 2026/03/P) is now in effect following third and final reading by Town Council on May 20, 2026 and approval by Alberta’s Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors.

The new Traffic Safety Bylaw consolidates six existing traffic-related bylaws into one comprehensive bylaw, helping simplify and modernize traffic regulations throughout Drayton Valley. The bylaw also introduces a new Speed Limit Policy (C-04-26), establishing a standard speed limit of 50 km/h on municipal roads unless otherwise posted.

Key Updates Include:

ℹ️ Speed Limit Changes
Two locations within Drayton Valley have updated speed limits under the new Traffic Safety Bylaw. Please refer to the attached map for details.
✔️ The speed limit in the Drayton Valley Museum area (44 Avenue and 60 Street) has increased from 20 km/h to 30 km/h.
✔️ The speed limit on Ring Road (35 Street), from the south boundary near the Water Treatment Plant north to Township Road 494, has increased from 60 km/h to 80 km/h.

ℹ️ Additional Bylaw Updates
The new Traffic Safety Bylaw includes several additional updates intended to improve traffic management, safety, and clarity for residents and drivers, including:
✔️ Updated truck and dangerous goods routes to reduce heavy vehicle traffic through the downtown core and along portions of 50 Avenue and 50 Street.
✔️ Increased notice requirements for temporary no-parking zones related to snow removal and street maintenance.
✔️ Updated fine amounts for traffic-related offences.
✔️ Introduction of Road Use Agreements and Right-of-Way Agreements for work occurring within municipal roadways.
✔️ Enhanced provisions allowing the Town to recover costs associated with damage to municipal roads, sidewalks, and other transportation infrastructure.
✔️ Updated regulations regarding election signs and temporary advertising signs within road rights-of-way.
✔️ Updated provisions for school buses, off-highway vehicles, bicycles, and other wheeled transportation devices.

New speed limit signs are being installed in the affected areas. Drivers are reminded to watch for posted signs and adjust their speed accordingly.

⚠️ Public Notice: Unauthorized CEIP Door-to-Door Activity Reported

The Town has received reports of individuals going door-to-door claiming to represent the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP).

Please be advised: CEIP does not conduct door-to-door sales or promotional activities.

The Town has not authorized any individuals or companies to visit residents’ homes on behalf of CEIP. CEIP does not sell products or services such as solar panels, windows, insulation, furnaces, or other home upgrades. It is a financing program that helps eligible homeowners complete energy efficiency and clean energy improvements through property tax financing.

Residents should be cautious of anyone who:
• Claims to represent CEIP or the Town of Drayton Valley
• Says you have been “pre-approved”
• Offers to sign you up for CEIP immediately
• Pressures you to make a decision or sign documents on the spot

If someone visits your home, ask for identification, verify their credentials, and do not feel pressured to sign any agreements immediately.

For more information about the Clean Energy Improvement Program, visit https://www.draytonvalley.ca/ceip/
