In this role, you’ll provide safe and efficient collection and hauling of residential and commercial waste using tandem axle collection trucks and other equipment as required

❗️Important public alert regarding a reported bush fire south of Banon Creek. Emergency Management Cowichan is actively monitoring the Banon Creek wildfire (V60498). Stay informed by signing up for alerts at https://alertable.ca/signup/?site=Cowichan.

⚠️ Fire Notice

A bush fire has been reported south of Banon Creek.

BC Wildlife Service is currently on scene and responding to the incident. Town of Ladysmith Fire Rescue personnel are also assisting, with firefighters and a bush truck deployed to the area.

At this time, there is no further information available.

The Town will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.

The Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) and Town of Ladysmith are pleased to announce that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish the framework for a treated bulk water supply agreement for the Saltair Water Service in Electoral Area G.

Under the MOU, the CVRD and Town of Ladysmith have committed to negotiating an agreement that will outline how the Town will supply treated bulk water to the Saltair Water Service, including terms and conditions of the arrangement. This work supports the CVRD’s ongoing efforts to achieve compliance with provincial Drinking Water Treatment Objectives for Surface Water in B.C.

Effective Tuesday, June 2, 2026, all Cowichan Valley Regional District water systems are moving to Stage 2 water restrictions in an effort to conserve watering in anticipation of continuing drought conditions. Shellwood and Dogwood water systems are moving to Stage 3 water restrictions.

In Stage 2 all outdoor watering, including sprinkling and conventional irrigation systems can occur up to 2 hours maximum, one designated day per week between the hours of 7 p.m. and 9 a.m.
💦 Even numbered addresses: Wednesday
💦 Odd numbered addresses: Sunday

Hand-watering, micro/drip irrigation subject to daily maximum for food or ornamental gardens is allowed. Watering in the morning or evening is always best as it reduces water lost to evaporation.
