🚧 🚗 Main Street and Osprey Street Reconstruction in Dundalk
(2-Week Forecast)

🛒🛍️ A friendly reminder to Township of Southgate residents and visitors that Dundalk businesses remain open and ready to serve you during construction. Please continue to support our local businesses and plan ahead for travel time while construction is underway.

📍Main Street (Ida Street to McAuley Street)
⏰ November projection of full re-opening of Main Street

-Topsoil and landscaping is ongoing
-Main Street between Ida Street and McAuley Street will remain CLOSED to through traffic
-Access is available to local residents and Highpoint Community School

📍Main Street (McAuley Street to Keppel Street)
⏰ November projection of full re-opening of Main Street

-Curb construction has started and will be completed week of October 5-October 9
-Sidewalk and paving operations scheduled for weeks of October 12th and/or October 19th
-Individual driveway access may be temporarily impacted during curb operations
-Main Street between McAuley Street and Keppel Street is CLOSED with access only provided to local residents/businesses

📍Main Street (Keppel Street to Proton Street)
⏰ November projection of full re-opening of Main Street

-Excavation operations for watermain and storm sewer servicing ongoing
-Main Street between Keppel and Proton is CLOSED with access only provided to local residents/businesses
-Individual driveway access may be temporarily impacted as excavation operations progress

📍Osprey Street (Victoria Street to Owen Sound Street)
⏰ Mid to Late October projection of full re-opening of Osprey Street

-Hydro One relocation work is complete
-The majority of curb construction is to be completed week of October 5-October 9
-Curb construction on a portion of Osprey Street North (East side) will take place at a later date so the Contractor can install a final length of storm sewer
-Sidewalk and paving operations scheduled for weeks of October 12th and/or October 19th
-Individual driveway access may be temporarily impacted during curb operations
-Osprey Street between Victoria Street and Owen Sound Street is CLOSED with access only provided to local residents/businesses

‼ Please be advised that due to the construction on Main Street in Dundalk, the pedestrian crossover at the intersection of Young Street and Main Street is experiencing higher than usual traffic including heavy machinery.

📍Therefore, starting on Monday, September 28, 2026, the crossing guard will be temporarily relocated to the intersection of the CP Rail Trail and Main Street West with northern Dundalk access provided through the alley behind Home Hardware (located between Dundalk Street and Proton Street North).

🚘 As construction progresses, the crossing guard will return to their normal position. At which time, another notification will be provided prior to the return.
