Tonight our training division organized a truck operation training/qualification session. It was a great session that allowed 7 of our newer members to navigate through job performance requirements for operating fire apparatus'. The course challenges the operator by putting them through tight clearances at different speeds and different blinds points to drive home the skills required to operate these larger vehicles safely. This was another example of the extra time and commitment our members bring to our community to better their skills and knowledge in the Fire Service! Lacombe County Fire Service Town of Eckville

👏👨‍🚒 Captain Brett Burak's journey with our department began back in 2016 during his Grade 12 high school year, after being brought out to a training night - Instantly drawn in by the welcoming atmosphere, the dedication to teaching, and the collective drive for self-improvement, he found a lifelong passion for emergency services.
Over the past decade, Burak has built an impressive career across Alberta. In 2017, he gained valuable experience with Kananaskis Emergency Services, returning to Eckville from 2019 to 2021 before serving with the Town of High Level Fire Department. Since returning home to Eckville in 2023, he has served Central Alberta as a Primary Care Paramedic (P*P) and is currently furthering his education to become an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP).
After stepping into the Lieutenant role in late 2025, his passion for mentorship naturally paved the way for his promotion to Captain. Burak is dedicated to passing on his knowledge, ensuring our crew continues to better themselves both on and off the truck. Captain Burak is the definition of what a fire service leader should be, combining sharp tactical knowledge, deep commitment to the crew, management of complex scenes and mentoring firefighters, Burak leads with calm confidence and a safety-first mindset.
Huge congratulations to our new Captain Brett Burak 👏
