MSGC President Dave Lamouche was joined by Buffalo Lake Chair, Harold Blyan, and Gift Lake Chair Leonard Anderson, along with Gift Lake Vice Chair Allan Lamouche at the Manitoba Métis Federation celebration - Ste.Madeleine Metis Days - this weekend to commemorate and remember the tragedy of 1939 when the community was destroyed by the Federal Government to make way for a grazing pasture.

Red River Metis National Government President David Chartrand unveiled a monument at this year’s “Metis Days” with the oldest living survivor and descendent from the community.

MSGC President Dave Lamouche with Settlement leaders from Gift Lake and Buffalo Lake had an exceptional discussion on Saturday with both Manitoba Métis Federation leaders along with Métis Nation—Saskatchewan executive members on areas of common interest. It was an honour to be invited to join in and be part of the Ste. Madeleine events on Saturday.

Thank you, President Chartrand and your team for the warm welcome and the wonderful hospitality. Amazing bannock, tasty neckbones, and wonderful hamburger soup and beef stew was enjoyed by all!
