🍂 This Thanksgiving, hope was served around the table in Calgary!

The The Salvation Army, Glenmore Temple recently launched a new monthly community meal, bringing neighbours together through warm food, meaningful conversations and a sense of belonging.

Open to everyone, these free community meals offer more than nourishment. They create opportunities to build connections, strengthen community ties and remind those facing difficult times that they are not alone. ❤️

While Thanksgiving has passed, the spirit of gratitude, generosity and community continues all year long.

Just before the Thanksgiving long weekend, The Salvation Army’s Glenmore Temple will start an initiative to bring neighbours together around the dinner table.

Delicia Carvery used to work in the corporate world, but after a restructure she found herself looking for an organization that aligned with her personal values. When she read the mission statement of The Salvation Army, she was inspired to apply.

Nearly 21 years later, Delicia loves working for The Salvation Army and meeting people where they’re at. Delicia connects donors with the impact of their giving, showing them how The Salvation Army makes a difference.

She is inspired by hearing donors’ stories and brings that joy to every interaction.

“I love sharing that with people⎯being that bright light and giving that hope back to people⎯blessing them before I end every call,” Delicia says.

Our guest speaker is gridiron legend Henry "Gizmo" Williams.
Together, we’ll raise awareness and critical funds to support The Salvation Army’s programs and services, helping provide hope and practical support to individuals and families in our community.

Kerri was in foster care when she met her now mom at a Salvation Army daycare. Ever since she was adopted at seven years old, she’s been going to Cariboo Hill Temple where her parents worked. Now, she works at that same church.

Her experience in the foster care system allows her to relate to the young girls she works with through The Salvation Army’s BRAVE program. BRAVE is a movement to inspire and empower girls through events across the country, meeting people where they’re at and encouraging them to become their own advocate.

Kerri runs one of the largest BRAVE programs in the country. Before she got the job, she was unemployed and discouraged. Kerri felt God guiding her to the position to uplift young girls in the same way she was uplifted when she was young.
