Last Tuesday we celebrated the feast day of our patron saint, St. Gianna Beretta Molla. We also celebrated National Volunteer Week - a chance to honour the people who continue St. Gianna’s selfless legacy every day.💛

Our volunteers are the heart of our community. Their compassion, generosity, and dedication reflect the very spirit our centre was built on. To all those generous men and women, thank you for walking this mission with us!

Gianna Centre is hiring!

Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a contract full-time, weekly 40 hours, Employment Intake and Assessment Coordinator to join our Community Outreach & Disability Service at the Gianna Centre in Edmonton. We are looking for staff who are client-centered, trauma-informed, patient, engaging, confident, thoughtful, and motivated to achieve success when supporting marginalized mothers to prepare for employment. The contract will end on March 31 2029. Job application closing will occur when a suitable candidate is hired.

On the feast day of our patron St. Gianna Beretta Molla, a wife, mother, physician, and courageous witness to sacrificial love, we give thanks during National Volunteer Week for the many hands and hearts serving at the Gianna Centre. Inspired by St. Gianna’s faith and trust in God, our volunteers accompany mothers and families with compassion, hope, and respect for the sanctity of life.

To those volunteers: your time, prayers, and quiet works of mercy truly reflect Christ’s love. Thank you for being His hands and feet.

We’re seeking a dedicated Workforce Development and Community Engagement Specialist to lead this initiative by building strong community partnerships, creating employment pathways, and empowering participants to gain confidence and secure meaningful work.

Dear mothers,

In a world that glamourises Valentine’s Day and encourages perfectly curated snapshots of “dream lives,” remember this:

Your life doesn’t have to look idea to be good, meaningful, and worthy of love.

Maybe your relationships need work. Maybe you’re not where you hoped you’d be - in your career, your education, or even your home. Maybe that positive pregnancy test arrived at the most unexpected moment.

Still:

🌹Your life is worthy of the love and passion you pour into it.
🌹Happiness and fulfillment don’t require everything going according to plan.

Today, we want to recognise the many sacrifices you make as a mother - the diaper changes, the midnight feedings, the exhausted mornings, the sloppy baby kisses - all the beautiful unseen moments that make you the most important person in your child’s world.
