Chip bags… to-go cups…Styrofoam. These are just a few of the new items you can recycle in Edmonton starting Oct.1 ♻️

While this is exciting news, the best environmental option is still reducing waste before it’s made. We encourage you to continue to bring your own cups for to-go drinks and choose options with less packaging.

What’s your Invasive Plants IQ🌿? Join us at DIY Thursday on Oct. 1 to learn about invasive plants in the area and what to do about them. Then, make your own wreath using some of the very plants we’ll learn about! We’re excited to welcome the City of Edmonton’s Invasive Plants Outreach Team (YEG Parks), who will facilitate this upcoming DIY.

Tomorrow’s DIY: another Sip ‘N’ Stitch! Come sew, crochet or knit with us. A reminder that there is no instructor for this DIY and participants are expected to bring their own projects. We’ll have sewing machines ready and other basic tools you may need to finish your project!

Looking for dedicated time to finish a work-in-progress or finally start your first sewing project? Join us for Sip ‘n’ Stitch on September 10 and September 24!

What to expect:
🪡 Self-led: Bring your own project to work on.

🪡 Supplies on hand: Basic supplies like thread, bobbins and tape measures will be available.

🪡 Staff Support: Our team will be on-site to help you get set up and answer basic questions about the machines or the Reuse Centre.

Big changes are coming to recycling on October 1! 👇

Soon, Edmontonians will be able to recycle more items than ever before!

Beginning October 1, more materials will be accepted both in the blue bags and at recycling depots.

New materials include:
♻️ Take-out food containers and to-go cups, such as coffee cups

♻️ Foam packaging, such as meat trays and Styrofoam

♻️ All plastic packaging, such as chip bags, bubble wrap, resealable pouches, snack wrappers and cereal liner bags.

This will make recycling more convenient for residents and help keep more items out of landfill.

The Small Electronics Swap is back at the Reuse Centre on September 19 from 10 AM - 3 PM! 🔌

Bring up to five small electronics you’re ready to part with and swap them for up to five items that are new to you. What counts as a small electronic? Think microwave, average inkjet printer or smaller.

Please make sure your electronics are in working condition before bringing them to the event.
