Preventing sexual violence starts with empowering individuals and communities through accurate, non-victim-blaming information.

Our Recognizing and Responding to Sexual Violence interactive online workshop equips participants with practical knowledge and skills to address sexual violence in both personal and professional settings.

Over this three-week course, participants can expect to spend approximately two to three hours per week engaging with a combination of readings, videos, additional resources, and facilitated group discussions led by a member of the SACE Public Education team.

Topics covered include:

An introduction to SACE services
Core facts and definitions related to sexual violence
Self-care practices and healthy boundaries
Impacts of trauma
Supportive response skills

The next session runs from September 8–29 and is offered on a sliding-scale fee of $0–$40, with all proceeds supporting SACE programs and services.

Emancipation Day marks August 1, 1834, when the Slavery Abolition Act came into effect across the British Empire. But emancipation was not the end of the struggle for freedom, safety, and equality.
At SACE, we believe everyone deserves to live free from violence, discrimination, and oppression. Building safer communities means recognizing the ways racism, sexism, and other forms of oppression intersect, and continuing the work to challenge the systems and attitudes that allow harm to persist.
Today, we reflect, learn, and commit to creating communities where everyone can live with safety, dignity, and freedom.
