Boyle Street Community Services Since 1971, we have been serving, empowering, and advocating for individuals in the Inner-City

Change begins with an IDEA. Please vote, share and repost! Help us get an many votes as possible for our IDEA in the Field Law Community Fund Program.

Our goal is to create and distribute approximately 300 Frostbite Prevention Kits to community members at greatest risk in extreme cold in 2027.

This health and safety initiative will provide practical protection from freezing injuries while preserving dignity and creating opportunities for connection. Each kit will help protect areas vulnerable to frostbite, keep people warm and dry, provide nourishment, and support access to a warm indoor space.

Each kit will include a backpack, cold weather clothing, mittens, socks, snacks and resources.

Boyle Street’s Crisis Diversion and outreach teams will distribute kits directly to people sleeping outside or spending prolonged periods outdoors during extreme cold warnings.

Join us on October 28 for a FREE presentation about using listening as a method to gather knowledge and foster change.

This presentation followed by Q&A panel explores what it means to treat listening not simply as consultation, but as a rigorous relational method for surfacing community knowledge, deepening accountability, and informing change.

Courageous Voices is a community-engaged listening and discernment process developed through Bissell Centre and Boyle Street Community Services. Grounded in Indigenous guidance, circle process, participant feedback, and iterative sense-making, the project engaged staff, community members, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, supporters, and partners over two years.

With support from Mental Health Foundation Alberta Boyle Street has strengthened our Counsellor capacity within our interdisciplinary model of care. This makes it easier for community members to access mental health support in a place where they may already be receiving services and building trusted relationships.

It’s one way we can help reduce barriers to care and provide more coordinated, relationship-based support, so our community members are not alone.

We recently held our annual Staff Appreciation Day!

We recognized staff celebrating milestone years of service: 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 years. We also had food and activities like hand games, bracelet and button making, make-your-own BBQ spice, a tie-dye bar, and more! And most importantly was the time we spent together, catching up with people we might not get to see very often across all our programs and sites.

The work our teams do every day can be challenging, and it takes compassion, commitment, humour, and a willingness to keep showing up for one another and to walk alongside those we serve.

We’re proud to celebrate our staff and grateful for the work they do.

Thanks to an incredible outpouring of support from Edmontonians, this year’s Thanksgiving dinner will go ahead – this time at the Aviation Museum on Sunday, October 11!

The full turkey dinner will be prepared by students from NAIT's Culinary Arts program. There will also be live music, supplies, and other activities on site. Doors open at 10:30AM, and meal service begins at 11:30AM.

We’re grateful to everyone who donated and spread the word, and we’re honoured and overjoyed to once again provide a sit-down meal to those we serve.

We also want to thank our longtime partners at NAIT, Edmonton's Food Bank and Rotary Club of Edmonton West for their years of support in making this event possible.

Thank you, Edmonton, for coming together and helping us create pathways toward miyo-pimâtisiwin – the good life.
