Memories of warmer days at our Midsummer Evening of Music & Mingling back in July!

Thank you to all our guests for showing up, donating, and adding to the spirit of this event. Special thanks to Heather McPherson for taking time away from her busy schedule to speak. We also want to extend our gratitude to Martin Kerr who got us hyped.

Shout out to all the volunteers that made this event happen, we thank you for your labour!

Today, we honour the strength and wisdom of Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island.

For millennia, Indigenous nations have cared for these lands and carried wisdom and knowledge that continues to guide us all today. Indigenous stories and traditions remind us of the importance of resilience, responsibility, and caring for each other and the world around us.

New Democrats will always stand alongside Indigenous Peoples in the fight to protect land, waters and Indigenous self-determination in the spirit of truth and reconciliation.

We call on all levels of government to immediately uphold the Treaties, fully implement the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, and act on the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Calls for Justice.

Indigenous rights are not optional. They are law.

Across Canada, Conservative premiers are preemptively reaching for the notwithstanding clause again and again. Using it to override rights instead of protecting them.

We need to talk about what that means, who it harms, and how we stand up for the people being targeted, from workers rights to trans kids.

If you believe in any of these, you’re already a New Democrat — and we need you with us.

Now more than ever, Canadians need New Democrats in their corner.
