This single-family home is literally being engulfed by two eightplexes and a multi plex now starting.

And this is increasingly what we’re seeing across Edmonton.

CMHC funding from the federal government has helped spur this kind of development, combined with an extremely relaxed zoning bylaw. When this went before Council, we were told there would be little to no impact.

Yet here we are.

This area now has makeshift water lines running to people’s homes because the infrastructure has failed. Some of these rentals have already experienced flooding issues, sit vacant, and they are not accessible for seniors.

We’re told one thing, while the exact opposite is happening on the ground. Because our city has business and industrial collapse, and as they cannot manage or effectively manage all the vacant land we could densify like Blatchford, the quarters, downtown and northlands, they are desperate for tax uplift.

And as a homeowner, your rights are disappearing. Your right to light. Your right to privacy. Your ability to enjoy your own property without being surrounded by massive apartment style developments. Context has been lost. Planning lazy.

Yes, there were “tweaks” to the zoning bylaw that came into effect August 1st. But don’t kid yourself: those changes make virtually no difference to what can be built. On a typical lot, you can still build developments like this and the infrastructure still has to absorb the impact. In this case, it’s failed despite the community being told it’s fine - there are hoses running on the ground for water.

If you own a single-family home, this could come beside you.

If a property next to you comes up for sale, be prepared. Consider purchasing it, securing a restrictive covenant, or sign the petition in my bio calling on the provincial government to intervene in Edmonton’s zoning bylaw.

We need to bring some reasonableness back to planning and make sure development actually meets the needs of the communities it’s being built in.

Because this is a prime example of the disconnect between what homeowners were promised and what is actually happening.

Edmonton City Council isn't listening. It's time to take our voices to the Province.

Our neighborhoods are changing rapidly, and City Council is ignoring community concerns. That is why community leaders launched the Infill Action Campaign — a grassroots, non-partisan Lobby Campaign, asking the government for balance between redevelopment and neighborhood stability.

Our Campaign Begins with Letters to SIX Ministers and the Premier
· Expertly Guided: Built with help from retired city and provincial planners.
· Targeted Impact: No more scattered letters. We mapped Edmonton’s specific infill issues directly to the exact provincial ministers with the legal power to intervene under the Municipal Government Act (MGA). We’ve written the letters for you.
· Ministers Contacted: Letters have been prepared and ready to be sent to Premier Danielle Smith and Ministers handling: Municipal Affairs, Transportation, Environment and Protected Areas, Infrastructure, Public Safety and Emergency Services, Assisted Living and Social Services.

This is what happens when some developers know they have the city council in their pockets, and progressives on the council are willing to sacrifice safety and security in the name of being inclusive.

If you dare to oppose the infill that developers want to build, they will put a halfway home in your neighbourhood—and you can do nothing about it.

Have you opened your property assessment yet? If you’re like us, the "7% property tax increase" Council talked about amounts to a lot more like 25% once you factor in the new assessed values.

While homeowners are struggling to keep up, we’re seeing the City spend your tax dollars on:
❌ The Blatchford development (which many call a failure)
❌ Electric buses that ended up stacked in storage
❌ Solar panels on city buildings that aren't even connected to the grid

The City says they can’t cut costs without hurting "social programs," but the PACE team is finding waste in every corner. It doesn’t take a miracle to fix the budget; it takes the willpower to stop spending money on projects that don't work.

"I just didn't have time to wait in line."

We heard this over and over again after the last Edmonton election from the people who keep Edmonton running.

Whether you’re working a 9-to-5 or a blue-collar grind, by the time you get home at 6:00 PM, the last thing you can do is stand in a massive lineup for an hour just to cast your vote.

The very people who want change the most, the ones who feel the pinch of every tax hike and policy shift, are often the ones the system makes it hardest for.

We want to know:
1. Did you walk away from a polling station at Edmonton's last municipal election?2. Do you think our current voting system works for people with busy, hardworking schedules?

Does this math add up to you?

We’re digging into the City’s books, and the numbers are a bit... chilling.

Since 2018, the City of Edmonton’s snow removal budget has been cut by $10 million. Meanwhile, our property taxes keep climbing every year.

The City's justification for higher taxes: We’re a bigger city and core services cost more.
The reality: Budget for core services (like snow removal) is actually going down.

If we are paying more, but getting less of the "core" services that keep Edmonton moving, where is that money actually going? We think the City bit off more than it can chew—and homeowners are being handed the bill.
