At JFS Edmonton, we provide Counselling, Home Support Services, and Newcomers to Canada Support to the local community. While we do have a few programs that cater directly to the local Jewish population, we welcome everyone, regardless of race or creed. We are LGBTQ+ friendly; not only are our services diverse, but our clientele and employees are too.

Supporting loved ones through difficult times. Caring for aging parents or sick family members. Showing up for your community.

These are acts of love—but they can also leave you running on empty. It's important to care for yourself, just as you care for others.

Counselling can provide caregivers with a safe space to manage burnout, reduce stress, and find ways to restore balance and resilience. But for many, cost can be a barrier to accessing the support they need.

Through our ongoing 54 the Future initiative, we’re building a community where healing and support are accessible to everyone. You can contribute in two impactful ways:

💛 $54/month builds a compassionate, connected community.

💛 $86/month covers one hour of subsidized counselling.

Together, we ensure no one gets left behind.

Meet Sarah Karesa, M.Ed., R.Psych.

As Program Manager at the Edmonton Healing Centre, Sarah walks alongside clients navigating grief, loss, caregiving, dementia, and palliative illness. She brings steady, compassionate support through life's most difficult chapters.

Here is a reminder from Sarah: Issues take time to build up. They can take time to work through. Healing is a journey. You don't have to rush it.

The month of Elul asks us to look within.

It's not about having all the answers. It's about being brave enough to ask the questions.

Who am I? Where am I going?

This is the work and this is the gift. Need help or someone to talk through these reflections, we are always here to listen.

Our community is deeply connected—we feel one another's challenges and celebrate one another's resilience. 💙

With that closeness comes a responsibility: to ensure no one is left behind, and that those who need support can access it with dignity.

Through 54 the Future, a pledge of $54—or whatever amount you can give—can preserve dignity, offer hope, and ensure support is always available to those who need it.

Together, we can hold the line, build compassion, and continue to make a difference.

Did you know? The Shofar (ram’s horn) is blown every single morning during the month of Elul. Starting tonight, this beautiful tradition begins! Elul is a sacred 29-day period dedicated to spiritual preparation, forgiveness, and deep reflection before the High Holidays arrive in September. Think of it as our annual spiritual alarm clock.

Let's use this month to connect, reflect, and grow together. Chodesh Tov! ✨
