August 16-22 is Walk Your Block Week.
Statistics show that actively walked neighborhoods have lower crime rates thanks to street-level visibility that acts as a deterrent for would be criminals.
Walks aren't meant to be "patrols", and community members shouldn't engage with suspicious individuals. Just be aware of neighborhood routines, and notice when something or someone looks out of place and report it accordingly.
Who to Call: Report non-emergency suspicious acts to the police line at 780-423-4567 or use the EPS mobile app. Call emergency services for crimes in progress. Use the 311 app for community maintenance or graffiti

Join Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch in celebrating Walk Your Block Week! We encourage all Edmontonians to take a walk around their neighbourhood and observe what makes it safe and what could be improved.
When residents are active, visible, and aware, there are more eyes on the neighbourhood, helping to deter crime, identify safety concerns, and build stronger community connections. Together, we can make our neighbourhoods safer for everyone.
