Celebrating the Success of Our Youth Leadership Program! 🌟
What an incredible 4 weeks it has been! We just wrapped up a highly successful in-person Youth Leadership Program, and we couldn't be prouder of the 17 amazing youth participants who dedicated their Tuesdays in August to building real-world skills for their future.
Throughout this interactive, fun, and engaging session, our youth explored core leadership foundations—including resilience, hard work, personal values, positive habits, communication and building strong personal and professional relationships.
A huge thank you to our main presenter, Colonel Jassi Kahlon (Leadership Coach and Skill Development Facilitator), for generously sharing his time, deep expertise, and invaluable life experiences with our cohort.
Our participants also gained diverse professional career insights thanks to our guest speakers from across various industries:
Surinder Padam – Program Manager, NAIT
Dr. Jasneet Parmar – Care of the Elderly Physician, Associate Professor (Department of Family Medicine, University of Alberta), and Medical Lead of Home Living & Transitions (AHS Edmonton Zone)
Ms. Mannat – Marketing Lead, Alberta Health Services (AHS)
Every participant walked away with impactful takeaways, practical toolkits, and earned their Professional Development Certificates! 🎓✨
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this program such a wonderful success for our community's future leaders!

🌱🔬 ICWA Youth STEM Program 2026 🚀🧪
From July 15 to August 12, ICWA hosted our five-week Youth STEM Program, giving children the opportunity to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through hands-on learning, experiments, and educational activities!
Throughout the program, participants explored a variety of topics and activities, including planting and growing seeds, creating volcanoes, designing and testing paper rockets, building bridges, and making slime. 🌱🌋🚀🌉
The sessions also included a Fire Prevention and Safety session with Caryn Levert, where participants learned important fire safety skills, as well as a session on Indian Independence with Vasudha Tiwari, giving children the opportunity to learn more about India’s history and independence. 🇮🇳
The program encouraged children to be curious, creative, and confident in sharing their ideas. Through hands-on activities and group discussions, participants had opportunities to ask questions, solve problems, experiment, and learn from one another.
We would also like to thank our amazing youth volunteers for their time, support, and leadership throughout the program, and Caryn Levert and Vasudha Tiwari for sharing their knowledge with our participants. 💚
Thank you to everyone who helped make the 2026 ICWA Youth STEM Program a success! We are so proud of everything our participants explored and accomplished over the five weeks. ✨

Celebrating unity, freedom, and gratitude! 🇮🇳🇨🇦
On Thursday, August 13, we gathered for a memorable celebration of India’s Independence Day. Surrounded by bright tricolours, the room was truly filled with love and respect for our motherland, India, as well as immense gratitude for our home here in Canada.
Our day began with a refreshing chair yoga session, bringing everyone together before the formal festivities started. We honored our host land with a Land Acknowledgement, followed by proud moments during the National Anthems of both Canada and India.
We were deeply honored to hear inspiring personal life stories from retired Army Officers Major Harendra Rathi and our Chief Guest, Colonel Jassi Khalon—their words were undeniably the highlight of the day! Heartfelt poetry and uplifting songs brought so much joy to the event, which concluded with delicious tea and refreshments shared among great friends.
