Starting Monday, August 31, Jasper Transitโ€™s School Special route will begin service for the 2026โ€“27 school year.

The School Special is timed around school start and dismissal times, but it is part of Jasper Transitโ€™s regular public service and is open to everyone.

Hereโ€™s what riders need to know:
โ–ช๏ธRegular Jasper Transit buses will operate the route.
โ–ช๏ธA Bus Monitor will be on board on school days to help support a safe and comfortable ride.
โ–ช๏ธThe route will operate Monday to Friday, regardless of whether school is in session, to provide a consistent weekday schedule.
โ–ช๏ธStudents who are eligible for school transportation under provincial guidelines will receive an Annual Student Bus Pass through their school at the beginning of the school year.
โ–ช๏ธStudents who are not eligible for school transportation, and other members of the public, can ride by paying a regular Jasper Transit Local fare.
โ–ช๏ธChildren 12 and under ride Jasper Transit for free.

The School Special will initially use Jasper Transitโ€™s largest bus, which has capacity for 44 passengers. Ridership will be monitored as the school year gets underway.

Day pass: $8.50
Youth 10-use pass: $21
Youth monthly pass: $30

Monthly passes are available through the HotSpot app and at the Jasper Activity Centre desk.

As recovery-related construction continues, temporary detours may affect the route, schedule or stops. Any changes will be shared on the Jasper Transit website as they occur.
