Elections Alberta has formally reached out to the Otipemisiwak Métis Government in the spirit of building government-to-government relationships, and to share the paid, temporary employment opportunities available to Métis Citizens during the 2026 Referendum.
Ensuring Métis participation, leadership, and representation within democratic processes across Alberta is vital. These roles offer a meaningful opportunity for Citizens across all Districts to gain valuable professional experience, receive comprehensive paid training, and actively serve our communities.
Key Dates & Availability Requirements
A variety of temporary, elections-related positions are available to support election administration across Alberta. Applicants must be available for one or more of the following operational periods:
Advanced Voting (Tuesday, October 13 – Saturday October 17, 2026)
Election Day (Monday, October 19, 2026)
Ballot Count Period (Monday, October 19 – Wednesday October 21, 2026)
Position Requirements & Eligibility
• Age Eligibility: Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Role Qualifications: Must meet the specific qualifications for the applied election Officer Position.
• Background Check: Must successfully pass a standard criminal record check.
• Non-Partisanship Oath: Must sign an oath of non-partisanship and refrain from political activity during the period of employment.
