To protect Ontario’s biodiversity from invasive species, we’re investing $40,000 in critical conservation work within the Royal Botanical Gardens Canada. This effort will help safeguard more than 2,000 acres of nature sanctuaries, ecosystems and forests for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you, Dawn Gallagher Murphy, for highlighting this important work.

In the face of U.S. tariffs, Ontario is building mines faster to create jobs and a stronger economy.

Under Premier Ford, faster approvals, stronger supply chains and a skilled workforce are making Ontario the best place in the world to build mines.

There’s never been a more important time to buy local and support Ontario businesses.

The Market District in St. Jacobs is a great place to do both. I had the opportunity to tour Stockyards Beverage Co. and see firsthand the in-house brewing operations, as well as visit the brew hall, a restaurant for community members to enjoy beer and non-alcoholic drinks that were produced just steps away. I also enjoyed a visit to the farmers market, met some of the vendors, and purchased some fresh local produce.

If you haven’t had a chance yet this summer, get out and visit Stockyards and the St. Jacobs Farmers Market across the street. It’s great way to support local farmers, makers and entrepreneurs.

Incredible research is happening right here at the University of Guelph.

I spent yesterday afternoon on campus learning how researchers are protecting the health of our Great Lakes, fisheries and freshwater species, as well as supporting animal health through disease detection and improved testing.

The work being done here gives us the science we need to make informed decisions about how to conserve and protect the natural resources Ontario communities rely on.

Thank you to university President, Dr. Rene Van Acker, the researchers, and the entire U of G team for sharing this important work with me.

As we deliver our $236 billion infrastructure plan, our government is using Ontario lumber, steel, vehicles and other Ontario-made products whenever and wherever we can, so we can protect Ontario workers from President Trump’s tariffs.

Despite U.S. tariffs, Ontario remains a place where companies want to invest, businesses want to grow and people can build their futures.

In the past year Ontario has created nearly 120, 000 new jobs, with 52,000 of those created in just the past month alone.

We are standing shoulder-to-shoulder with businesses and workers by providing $1 billion in tariff relief financing, $40 million to open new markets and protecting tens of thousands of jobs.

We’ll do whatever it takes to protect Ontario workers.

In Ontario’s forest sector, that means standing up for forestry workers and businesses facing U.S. trade pressures and increased softwood lumber duties.

Through our Roadmap to Protecting Ontario’s Forest Sector, we’re helping the industry adapt, compete and grow by:

- boosting productivity and innovation
- finding new uses and markets for Ontario wood
- supporting critical forest access roads
- expanding demand for Ontario-made forest products at home and abroad.

Since 2018, Ontario has invested more than $700 million through key forestry programs and initiatives to strengthen the sector, diversify markets and protect the workers and communities that depend on it.

While in Victoria, I met with British Columbia’s Minister of Forests, Ravi Parmar.

As wildfire season continues, both BC and Ontario are using every tool available to keep communities safe. We will continue to strengthen our partnership and work together to protect against the threat of wildfires.
