We are wishing everyone a safe and happy Setting Day for LFA 24. 🦞

We hope all fisherfolk have a safe and prosperous 2026 season and if you are looking to get the chance to watch some lobster boats go about their morning there is no better view than from the East Point Lighthouse💡🏠.

04/27/2026

Setting Day is the designated start of the lobster fishing season here on PEI.🦞

On this day, there is a unique opportunity to see all of the lobster boats leave the wharf together and head off to set their traps for the first time of the season. Setting days are often a show of community as many people come out to watch the boats leave or to put in some work and help the fisherman reload their boats throughout the day. In the eastern part of PEI the fisherfolk participate in the spring lobster fishing season which begins near the first of may and ends two months after on landing day.

Here at the East Point Lighthouse we have a unique view of the two lobster fishing areas (LFAs), LFA 24 on the Northside and LFA26a on the south. 💡🏠 Today we would like to wish a safe and happy fishing season to all individuals in LFA 26a as they set their traps and begin the 2026 season!

Captain Kidd, the infamous pirate, was said to have landed on the shores of East Point and buried treasure somewhere on the property that now houses the East Point Lighthouse. 🏴‍☠️💡🏠

Where that treasure is? No one knows. But if you can find the end of the rainbow, you just might find a real pot of gold. 👑

Happy St. Patrick’s Day ! ☘️

The East Point Lighthouse has been the site of many love stories over the years from hosting wedding photos to engagements. 💍 However, the love stories started way back in the 1800’s with our very first keeper. Alexander Beaton and his wife were what many would consider star crossed lovers. They fell in love with each other when both of their prospective careers forbade it. Their love was so strong that they both left their careers behind and moved back to PEI to begin their life together. It was at this point Alexander Beaton was offered the job of the first lighthouse keeper. And the rest? Well the rest is history.

The lighthouse itself has often shown its love to its keepers and seafarers, providing protection in the worst of weather and offering silent goodbyes at times of final farewells. If you have, or know of, any love stories surrounding the East Point Lighthouse, please drop them in the comments below. 💌 We would love to hear them. Happy Valentines Day!❤️
