๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš“ What a great day in the park!

Yesterday, we joined our friends at the White Butte RCMP for our First Responder Day in the Park, and it was such a fun day.

There were lots of laughs, great conversations, and of course, the dunk tank was once again a huge hit! It was awesome seeing so many people from our community come out to spend the day with us.

Even better, we were able to raise money for CISM and Victim Services, thanks to the incredible support and generosity of our community.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by, donated, took a turn in the dunk tank, or just came out to say hello. Days like yesterday are a great reminder of what a fantastic community we get to be a part of.

Last night, the White City Fire Department and White Butte RCMP gathered for a BBQ and a great evening of connecting, catching up, and enjoying some time together outside of the calls and day-to-day work.

But the real heroes of the evening were our friends at Babco Meats Ltd., who generously donated the smokies and hot dogs for everyone to enjoy! ๐ŸŒญ

They were absolutely delicious, and we enjoyed every single bite. A huge THANK YOU to Babco for supporting our local first responders and helping make the evening extra special.

Introducing our WCFD Team Member Spotlight! ๐Ÿš’

Our department is made up of an incredible group of people, each bringing their own strengths, experiences and dedication to the team. In this new series, weโ€™ll be highlighting the members of WCFD and the significant roles they play in helping serve and protect our community.

First up, weโ€™re excited to spotlight Ava!

Avaโ€™s journey with WCFD began in 2024 when she took part in Camp Molly White City. Not long after, she joined our department and has been a valued member of the team ever since.

This year, Ava put her training to the test by competing alongside our team in the FireFit Competition, proudly representing WCFD!

When asked about her biggest strength as a firefighter, Ava said:

โ€œI love being a teammate, supporting everyone, stepping up as a leader when I can be, but always staying open to learning.โ€

Her favourite part of the job? The family and community you build along the way.

Avaโ€™s career is just getting started. She recently graduated as a Primary Care Paramedic and plans to continue pursuing her goal of becoming a career firefighter.

Thank you for everything you bring to the team, Ava. Weโ€™re proud to have you as part of the WCFD family! ๐Ÿš’

๐Ÿš’๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿš“๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿš“

We're excited to help spread the word about the 2nd Annual First Responder Fun Day, taking place on Sunday, August 23 from 12:00-2:30 pm at the White City Splash Park.

Hosted by the White City Volunteer Fire Department and White Butte RCMP, this family-friendly afternoon is all about bringing together first responders, families and community members for some fun. Stop by to meet the people behind the uniforms and support those who support our communities! ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘ฎ

The afternoon will include:
๐Ÿ” Community BBQ
๐ŸŒŠ Dunk tank
๐Ÿƒ Childrenโ€™s games & relays
๐Ÿš’ Tour emergency vehicles & equipment
๐Ÿ‘‹ Meet your local first responders
๐ŸŽˆ Family-friendly activities throughout the afternoon

And thereโ€™s an important reason to come out beyond the fun: all proceeds from the BBQ and dunk tank will support our local Volunteer Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team and Victim Services. These organizations do incredible work supporting people in our community when they need it most.

See you there!

Training never stops!

Last night, our members hit the road with our apparatus for a pump operations training session. From setting up and operating the pumps to working through different scenarios, the evening was all about building confidence, sharpening skills, and ensuring every member is comfortable operating our trucks.

Training like this not only keeps our firefighters prepared for emergency responses, but also gives us the opportunity to confirm that our apparatus and equipment are operating exactly as they should. Every drill makes us stronger, safer, and more ready to serve our community when it matters most.

A great night of teamwork, learning, and continuous improvement.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to Summer Splash in Pilot Butte on Saturday!

Our members had a blast teaming up with our mutual aid partners to bring the giant slip โ€˜n slide to life. Judging by the smiles, laughter, and soaked kids, weโ€™d say it was a pretty successful day!

We love opportunities like this to connect with our community outside of emergency calls. Thanks to everyone who stopped by, weโ€™re already looking forward to the next one!

โค๏ธ WCFD Spousal Appreciation Night Recap โค๏ธ

What a fantastic evening spent celebrating the people who make our service possible.
A sincere thank you to all of the spouses and supporters who joined us. While we're the ones responding to calls, they're the ones keeping things running at home, changing plans at a moment's notice, and supporting us every step of the way. Their sacrifices often go unseen, but they never go unnoticed. We simply couldn't do what we do without you.

We also had the opportunity to recognize some outstanding accomplishments from the past year.

Years of Service
โ€ข Jeff - 20 Years
โ€ข Dwayne - 20 Years
โ€ข Krista - 5 Years
โ€ข Chris - 5 Years
โ€ข Kevin - 5 Years

Top Medical First Responder
Congratulations to Perry Gray for being our Top MFR Responder.

Most Appreciated Spouse
Congratulations to Judy Oxtoby on an incredible 39 years (and counting!) of supporting the fire service.

We also handed out a few fun and well-deserved awards:
โ€ข Chris - First person to swim across Chuka Pond in Royal Park.
โ€ข Luke - Best moustache.
โ€ข Scott - Creator of the legendary WCFD mixtape, providing the soundtrack to our department and plenty of laughs along the way.

FireFit Recognition
We were especially proud to recognize our first-ever FireFit Relay Team. Mathieu, Rob, Mark, Krista, Ava, and Brady embraced the challenge, and brought home hardware. You represented WCFD with professionalism, determination, and heart. We couldn't be prouder.

Thank you again to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so memorable. Here's to another great year of serving our communities, together. ๐Ÿš’โค๏ธ

This past weekend, members of the White City Fire Department proudly competed in their first-ever FireFit competition!

Chief Mathieu Theriault took on the Individual Race, while our team of Krista, Mark, Brady, Rob, and Ava represented WCFD in both the Mixed Team and Hybrid Team categories.

It was an incredible weekend filled with hard work, teamwork, and plenty of adrenaline. Beyond the competition, we had the opportunity to meet firefighters from across North America, learn from some of the best, and experience the fitness that FireFit promotes.

A huge congratulations to all of our competitors for stepping outside their comfort zones and representing our department so well. We are incredibly proud of your efforts and accomplishments.

Thank you to the Assiniboia Fire Department for hosting an outstanding event.

Last nightโ€™s training at WCFD focused on putting our new MSA Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) into service.

SCBAs provide firefighters with clean, breathable air while operating in smoke-filled and hazardous environments, allowing us to work safely when the air around us isnโ€™t safe to breathe.

A big thank you to MSA representative Kent for joining us and providing hands-on training with the new equipment. Our members spent the evening learning the features, what to watch for in emergency situations, and becoming familiar with the tools that help keep us safe on the fireground.

Training never stops, and neither does our commitment to ensuring our firefighters have the knowledge, skills, and equipment needed to serve our community safely and effectively.
