πŸš’πŸ Perry Fire at the 137th Emsdale Fall Fair! πŸ‚

Perry Fire had a great time attending the 137th Emsdale Fall Fair! We loved getting out into the community, chatting with so many familiar faces, meeting new ones, and of course… making plenty of cotton candy! πŸπŸ˜‹

Our crew had lots of fun, laughter, and a great time attending the parade and other events throughout the day. We’re always happy to be part of these community celebrations and spend time with the people we’re here to serve.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, and to the organizers and volunteers who helped make this year’s fair such a success!

πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’πŸš’ Thanks for a fantastic day!

Last night was a great night for a swim! πŸŒŠπŸš’

Perry Fire, along with members of McMurrich/Monteith Fire Department, took advantage of the beautiful evening to practice our land-based surface water rescue skills on the waters of Doe Lake.

The evening even attracted a special spectator - the resident beaver stopped by to check out the training! 🦫 We like to think it was giving us its stamp of approval.

Training is always better when Mother Nature cooperates. Thanks to everyone who came out to sharpen their skills while enjoying one of the best β€œoffices” around! πŸš’πŸ’¦

β˜€οΈ Summer Safety Starts at the Cottage! πŸ›ΆπŸŒ²

Nothing beats a day at the lake, relaxing around the campfire, or enjoying time with family and friends. Help keep your summer safe by following these simple cottage safety tips:

πŸ”₯ Keep campfires small, attended at all times, and completely extinguish them before leaving.
🚀 Always wear a life jacket when on the water - no matter your age or swimming ability.
πŸ” Keep your BBQ a safe distance from decks, railings, and anything that can burn.
πŸ”‹ Test your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms when you arrive at the cottage.
⚑ Use extension cords safely and avoid overloading electrical outlets.
πŸš’ Keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen and near your BBQ, and make sure everyone knows where it is.
πŸ“ Ensure your cottage address is clearly visible so emergency responders can find you quickly.
πŸ“± Have a charged phone available and know your location in case you need to call 911.

A few minutes of preparation can prevent an emergency and help ensure everyone enjoys a safe and memorable summer at the cottage.

From all of us at the Perry Fire Department, have a safe and enjoyable summer! β˜€οΈπŸš’

Tonight, Perry Fire Department, alongside our neighbours from the Southeast Almaguin Fire Department, conducted our Shuttle Tanker Accreditation training.

This important training ensures our crews can provide a continuous and reliable water supply in areas without fire hydrants by efficiently shuttling water from a fill site to the fire scene. It takes teamwork, communication, and precision - and tonight our members demonstrated all three.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the evening a success. Working together with our neighbouring departments strengthens our partnerships and helps ensure we’re always ready to serve our communities when needed. πŸš’πŸ’¦πŸ‘

πŸ”₯Campfire Safety Starts With YouπŸ”₯

With the long weekend approaching, many of us will be gathering around a campfire with family and friends. A few simple precautions can help keep everyone safe:

πŸ”₯ Keep your campfire small and never leave it unattended.
πŸͺ£ Have a bucket of water, a shovel, or another means of extinguishment nearby.
🌲 Keep the fire well away from trees, tents, and anything that can burn.
🚸 Supervise children and keep pets a safe distance from the fire.
πŸ’§ Before you leave, drown, stir, and feel to make sure the fire is completely out and cool to the touch.

A safe campfire means a safe long weekend for everyone. Enjoy your time outdoors and help protect our community and forests.
