SEVERE WEATHER ALERT
Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a revised thunderstorm outlook for Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Clanwilliam-Erickson is in the zone of highest risk, with storms capable of wind gusts up to 130 km/h, hail up to 7cm in diameter, 100mm (4") of rain, and tornadoes.
Please identify a safe location in your house where you can shelter from a tornado, and ensure that you have supplies for at least 72 hours including medications in case of roads being impassable.
In Erickson, be prepared for sewer backups. We have a single 10" pipe leading from town to the lagoon, and many of the older houses in town drain their foundations via weeping tile directly into the sanitary sewer instead of getting pumped out to the surface. A 10" pipe cannot handle this volume of water, and in the past this has caused sewer backups.
Impassable roads and infrastructure-related emergencies can be reported to the municipal office by calling 204-636-2431 during business hours. After hours, please message this profile on Facebook or email [email protected].
