Please be advised that the Town of Erin burn ban has been lifted. Open air burning, including backyard fires with valid burn permits may resume.

07/15/2026

Due to deteriorating air quality, the Town of Erin is restricting open air burning across the municipality and suspending all burn permits until further notice.
Environment Canada has issued an orange-level air quality warning for the area due to wildfire smoke. Open air burning can exacerbate current air quality issues and pose increased risks for the community.
Please refrain from lighting bonfires on your property until the restriction is lifted. Check Town of Erin social media pages and erin.ca for updates. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping Erin residents and emergency responders safe.

Environment Canada has issued an orange-level air quality warning for Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph, effective through Friday morning, due to poor air quality and reduced visibility from wildfire smoke.

Heat and smoke are both health risks. Visit https://wdgpublichealth.ca/airquality for tips on staying safe, and use the ClimateSafe Map to locate nearby available cooling and clean air spaces.

🌡Temperatures are set to soar this week, as Environment Canada has issued a yellow heat warning for much of Southern Ontario—including Erin.
📍The Erin Community Centre at Centre 2000, at 14 Boland Dr., is available for anyone who needs to cool off during the day. There’s seating available in the lobby and a fountain for refilling bottles with cool water.💧
The cooling centre is open until 5:30 p.m. tonight, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. tomorrow, 7 a.m. to 9: 30 p.m. on Thursday and 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
🏑There is drop-in ball hockey on Thursday night at the arena and drop-in pickle-ball Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Beat the heat with a little fun. Pickleball equipment is available but bring a hockey stick, running shoes, helmet and gloves for drop in ball hockey.

MOBILE LIVE FIRE TRAINING UNITS (MLFTU): “The OFC and its training partners deliver practical, hands-on burn evolutions tailored to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. The OFC dispatches specialized trailers across Ontario. Local departments must apply and schedule these units directly through the Office of the Fire Marshal to host realistic attack and search-and-rescue drills in their own communities.”
This weekend the Town of Erin Emergency and Fire services had the opportunity to practice in Grand Valley and it was a day full of learning and camaraderie!! 🚒♥️
