๐Ÿš๐Ÿ”ฅ Training Night Success! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš

Our South Huron volunteer firefighters, Exeter, and Dashwood station, recently participated in a bus extrication training exercise, providing a valuable opportunity to practice the unique challenges that come with responding to a mass-transit vehicle emergency.

Crews worked through various scenarios involving patient access, vehicle stabilization, and extrication techniques, helping to build the skills and confidence needed to safely and effectively respond when seconds count.

A special thank you goes out to the local students and family members of our firefighters who volunteered their time to act as patients during the exercise. Also, we would like to thank Townline Auto Repair for providing and delivering the car, and Murphy bus lines for supplying the bus for this training night and to Top Notch Recovery and Logistics for delivering the bus. Your participation helped make the training realistic and greatly enhanced the learning experience for everyone involved.

We would also like to thank all our dedicated firefighters who continue to invest countless hours in training to better serve and protect our community.

Training today prepares us for tomorrow. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ’ช

It is with heavy hearts that we share this post.
Retired District Chief Cam McLeod passed away this morning.
Please see the post from the Municipality below.

Condolences from South Huron Fire to all of Cam's family during this time.

Take care and stay safe

It is a heavy day for the Ontario first responder community with the loss of OPP Constable Tarun Bali in the line of duty earlier this week and news this morning of Toronto Police Constable Marc Pinizzotto also being lost in the line of duty.

Locally, we want to also acknowledge the service of retired Exeter Fire Station District Chief Cam McLeod, who passed away this morning after a long battle against illness. District Chief McLeod retired from the South Huron fire department in 2011 after 27 years of service.

The South Huron Town Hall flag will fly at half-mast to commemorate the service of these first responders.

โ€œEach of these individuals committed themselves to making their communities safe,โ€ said Mayor George Finch. โ€œOn behalf of the Municipality of South Huron, our thoughts are with the families of OPP Constable Bali, Toronto Police Constable Pinizzotto, and retired Exeter Fire Station District Chief McLeod. They each unselfishly served their fellow human beings with courage and pride - please take a moment to remember them for their heroic contributionsโ€.

This past Thursday night at training Exeter station went to the apartments at 15 James Street for a little pre incident planning. Training this night involved connecting the Pumper to the standpipe on the building, dragging a pre-connect ( un-charged) through the stairwell to the 4th floor and down the hallway.
We also trained on taking the Hi-rise pack to the 2nd floor where we went over connecting to the building's fire cabinets, and then re-packed the Hi-rise pack into its bundle. From there a 2 1/2" line was dragged to the back side of the build with a gated wye and 2 - 1 1/2 lines with nozzles.

After these evolutions we comple and the Pumper was packed back up we then went over the best placement for the ladder truck on the south side of the apartments.

Thank you to Baker Holdings Corporation for allowing us use of the build for our training.

Take care and stay safe
