The Sparwood Fire Department provides fire suppression, motor vehicle extrication, rescue, fire prevention inspections (commercial), and public “Fire Prevention & Safety” education, as well as other related services within the District of Sparwood. Through Fire Service and Mutual Aid Agreements, the Department also provides fire suppression and vehicle extrication services to:

- Regional District of East Kootenay
- Hosmer
- District of Elkford
- Municipality of Crowsnest Pass, Alberta
- Teck Coal - Elkview Operations

At Tuesday evenings practice the crew worked on grass fire attack drills. Setting up a portable water source, portable pumps, and quick, efficient deployment of hoses is essential for a fast spreading grass fire. Teams worked with using clamps and teamwork to advance a charged hose line by adding lengths of hoses without ever shutting down the pump

Thanks to Seven Photography, the official 2026 Battle of the Bravest Charity Hockey Game photos are in! Some great shots of everyone having a fantastic time raising money for two great organizations. The next BotB photos you see should be the presentation of two large cheques to Angel Flight East Kootenay and the Elk Valley Su***de Task Force

Huge thanks to our amazingly generous community who came out in force (405 fans!) to cheer at the 2026 Battle of the Bravest Charity Hockey Game. Last night we raised close to $30,000 (official tally coming soon!) for the Elk Valley Su***de Task Force and Angel Flight East Kootenay
