Earlier this week, the County received up to six (6) inches of rain. While the precipitation was much needed and generally welcomed, the moisture adversely affected many roads within the County’s approximately 1600-mile road network. The County acknowledges that travel on some roads was challenging, and we regret the inconvenience caused. As many of the gravel roads have dried up enough to resume maintenance and restoration work on, at present, eleven (11) graders are grading roads and six (6) gravel trucks are spreading gravel. Starting tomorrow, Saturday, June 6, contracted graders will also be utilized to help catch up. Weather permitting, County staff will work during the weekend to restore County roads to their pre-rainfall state.
Also, the County recognizes and appreciates the producers, residents, and road users who delayed, postponed, or modified their hauling operations or work plans to prevent damage to or excessive wear and tear on County roads. Your efforts are greatly appreciated, while understanding that some were simply not in a position to delay or postpone. The County thanks everyone for their patience, and we are working hard to meet your expectations. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the County office at (403) 867-3530.
