Good afternoon Peetabeck,
Why are dogs continuing to roam around the community?
We have handed members the collars, the cable ties, leashes. It is you, the dog owners, that have the responsibility to care and handle your dogs. We’ve told multiple times, to the same owners, to tie up, leash your dog in your properties for the safety of children going to school, to the children playing outside, to our members walking to work, school. There are reports and concerns from our community of these dogs roaming in packs, chasing vehicles, atv’s, skidoos, where in cases they bite the operator, hanging around the school.
We capture these same dogs over and over. There are some owners who won’t claim them. Sending them out is an option, in which process takes longer and we don’t have that valuable resource (running water) to care for these dogs long term. Kennels become dirty and they would need adequate care and thorough cleaning and disinfecting.
Pictured are an example of roaming dogs. All of these are not strays, they are owned. Please, leash your dogs to your homes. Members, do your part as a parent, educator, worker, etc., to encourage a pet owner to lease their dogs in their homes.
If we don’t have anymore cable ties, leashes, collars, dog food, go take a look at your local northern store and buy them, or ordering online is an option.
Let’s create a safer community by following these simples steps. We shouldn’t have to fear and feel threatened when you walk freely and going on your exercise walks, letting your children play outside, having gatherings with nuisant dogs, etc.
