2026 MUNICIPAL ELECTION - VOTING STARTS OCTOBER 17, 2026

Advance Online and Telephone Voting for the 2026 Municipal Election is opening soon, with in-person to follow!
You should receive a Voter Information Letter in the mail outlining how you can vote and information you need to access the voting platform.

CIVIC CENTRE CLOSED MONDAY OCTOBER 12, 2026

Please be advised that the Civic Centre will be closed on Monday, October 12, 2026 for Thanksgiving.

ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE
Scott Street, beginning at Reid Avenue | October 7 - 14, 2026

Please be advised that Scott Street beginning at Reid Avenue will be closed for the next week, starting today. Local traffic only will be permitted.

While the work on Reid Ave. is complete, this closure is to allow for the riverfront work to stage materials in Shevlin Yard and transported safely along Scott St.

This closure will help avoid conflicts with higher traffic volumes and large trucks until the materials have passed Scott St. and can continue along Front St./Agamiing Dr.

Local traffic will still be permitted on Scott St. between Reid Ave. and Agamiing Dr. during this time. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Fort Frances Fire Rescue Service responded to multiple alarm activations today, including an apartment building and townhouses.

A simple reminder:

🔥 Treat every alarm as real.
🚪 Get outside and stay outside.
📞 Call 911 from a safe location.
⛔ Do not re-enter until firefighters say it is safe.

And while you’re thinking about fire safety—test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms monthly.

Disability Employment Awareness Month - October 2026

WHEREAS, persons with disabilities contribute valuable skills, talents, and perspectives to workplaces and communities across Canada; and

WHEREAS, accessible and inclusive employment practices help remove barriers and create equitable opportunities for everyone; and

WHEREAS, employers, community organizations, and governments share a responsibility to advance disability inclusion and meaningful participation in the workforce; and

WHEREAS, WHEREAS Disability Employment Awareness Month provides an opportunity to recognize these contributions and promote more accessible and inclusive workplaces; and

WHEREAS, enable Canada, an initiative of Enabled Talent, works to promote disability inclusion, accessible employment pathways, and meaningful participation across communities.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mayor Andrew Hallikas of the Town of Fort Frances, do hereby proclaim October 2026 as “DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS MONTH” in the Town of Fort Frances and encourage residents, employers, and community organizations to support accessibility and disability-inclusive employment.
