The Youth in Transition - Housing Support Program is inviting MALE & FEMALE youth AGED 15-24 to a two-day Bandolier Bag Workshop with Sharona Crane - Zazegaakwe.

A little bit about Sharona: "Sharona Crane is an artist from Anishinaabeg of Naongashiing and the founder of Zazegaakwe, meaning 'prosperous woman.' Zazegaakwe provides traditional regalia for ceremonial, pow wow, and contemporary wear, and has expanded into offering workshops that share that knowledge with others. Sharona is passionate about maintaining and passing down the traditional teachings shared to us by our ancestors."

Bandolier bags are not only meant for girls and women to wear but are also worn by boys and men for traditional and woodland regalia. Bandolier bags can be utilized in our regalias to tell a story and signify who we are and where we come from in our Anishinaabe identity.

This workshop will be taking place on Saturday, October 24th and Sunday, October 25th at our training room located at 281 Second St. East in Fort Frances from 9:30am - 4:00pm!!!

Each registered Youth participant will be given their own Bandolier Bag kit with pre-cut applique and all other supplies included. Due to the nature of this workshop, sewing experience is required. If youth feel more comfortable having an adult attend with them that has the sewing experience, that is welcomed.

Lunch will be provided for both days, along with all of the supplies needed. If there are youth who have their own sewing machine and are more comfortable utilizing their own machine, we welcome them to bring it along as well.

We look forward to seeing the youth out this weekend and seeing all of their beautiful creations.

The much anticipated countdown is on for the McTavish Haunted Woods!!!

Two scary, spooky fun nights on October 28th & 29th will take place on 71 McTavish Road located in Lavallee Township!

Soft Scare starts at 4-6:30PM followed by the Hard Scare which begins at 7-10:00PM!!

Kid friendly trail will run from 4-9:00PM!

Light food and refreshments, non perishable donations welcomed and admission to the event is FREE!!!

October 16th, 2026 was a historic day for Treaty #3 and the Town of Fort Frances, as the seventh flagpole was honored with the flag of Grand Council Treaty #3 and will now be permanently flown.

Chi-Miigwech to the Town of Fort Frances for inviting staff along side Maango-Inini for this historic moment that many will not forget!

Chi-Miigwech to Elder Shirley Atwell, Grand Council Treaty #3 drums Ogichidaa & Ogichidaakwe, Gaakinawataagizod Cheyenne Vandermeer, Chief Richard Bruyere, Chief Dean Councillor, Sean Councillor and Mayor Hallikas. Also to our Emcee Counselor Bill Morrison, the singers of the drums, helpers and staff.
